Zooming in and out in 3rd person view. - by rek075

Does anyone know if there is a way to zoom in and out while looking at your character in 3rd person view? Sometimes I feel the character takes up too much room in the screen. If this is possible I would also like to eventually bind the zooming to the mouse wheel.

I thought the mousewheel already was bound to that function?

Well I've tried it and it doesn't work for myself. Does it work for you? What mouse are you using?

I'm using a logitech optical mouse and can use the scrollwheel to zoom.

Is there anyone who can't do this like myself? I'm not sure what's wrong but for some reason the mouse wheel doesn't do anything in the game. There is no option in the controls configuration either. Anyone know what's going on?

Well I found out how to zoom in and out with the mouse wheel, however, it's not exactly what I was looking for. If you hold down TAB, you can pan around your character and use the wheel to control the zoom level. Once you let go of TAB, though, it reverts back to the original view and zoom level. I was hoping it would stay at the zoom level that I set it to while holding TAB. :(

Yes, being able to zoom in the fixed camera 3rd person view would be nice; having ALL camera adjustments made while holding TAB down "stick" when you bounce back to 3rd person view would be even nicer. The problem would be in the logic the game uses to determine what your target is--normally the center of the view, but if you've swung the camera around to get a nice side profile view of a particular combat, the game would have a difficult time (given the current targeting system) figuring out what your target is.
I usually just end up playing exclusively in 1st person (I hate the default "chase" view of 3rd person) and just hold down TAB whenever I want to look at myself and swing a camera around for vanity's sake.

I really don't care about swinging the camera to view myself during the whole game though lol, that would be pretty dumb I agree. But zooming in and out should not effect the center of the screen and what you are currently targetting. Heck, even if there was a console command that would permanently keep the camera zoomed out twice as far that would be cool. There must be some way of setting the zoom distance.
