I was playing a FM called "Dark Messiah", in there, there's a part where you get to some flooded basement (lab) and it's full of zombies, about 5 of them.
If you put them down to sleep, right on the water, it seems that they'll just spend their time drowning until the die.
How I know? I can pick up their "Corpse".
The hell?
Can you actually drown zombies to death?

Yep. I found that out by accident in the Bonehoard, in a staircase section that goes down to a flooded area

In the non-patched Dark Project I played way back when, it was a common trick to lure the Cragscleft zombies into the water, where they would choke and drown (bizarrely they seem to have unique sounds for this?), leaving a solid corpse you could carry around.
