Fincher's third best IMHO (Fight Club and Seven top it), go out and see it before it's pulled from theatres. A little overlong, but it'll beat the fuck out of 300. Expand your minds.

I have to wonder why you're so insecure about your tastes in movies that you felt the need to not only slag 300 in it's own thread, but to do it in an entirely unrelated (new) thread as well.
Why does it bother you so much that other people may like something that you don't?

Because all the love for a bare-chest homoerotic shoutfest makes his inner-fag quiver with orgasmic pleasure.
That aside, Zodiac looks awesome but isn't due over here for a couple of weeks, I think. I'll be seeing it for sure though. (Also, wouldn't be hard for it to be Fincher's 2nd best movie).

It was okay. Very unusual pacing, didn't feel like any other movie I can put my finger on. It felt like a well made prolonged episode of one of those real life crime shows, except with no talking heads and better actors.

Fuck Zodiac and fuck its commercial for getting 'Hurdy Gurdy Man' stuck on my head.
PigLick on 19/3/2007 at 06:26
apparently Jimmy Page played guitar on 'Hurdy Gurdy Man', not sure how true that is, though it does sound a like like him.

Why? Because 300 doesn't look interesting or unique at all and I'm sick of every Joe and Jane Schmo (my friends included) within three feet of me talking about the goddamn thing. Most of these morons wouldn't even begin to know what makes a good movie, and it's starting to show since the worst possible movies are being greenlit.
Hardly anything that comes out blows me away anymore and it seems that to see a good movie that actually gets the old neurons firing you have to look, look, look and then make the trek to a seedy little theater in the middle of Bumfuck. Granted, movies have been taking a steady nosedive since the '60s, but I remember back in the mid '90s when classics were still coming out at a pretty decent rate. If we had a bad year, at least most of the stuff coming out wasn't a remake of a classic like Get Carter or the Italian Job.
Hell, here's a few of the remakes they're coming out with in the next few years if you don't believe how hopeless the situation is...
The Wild Bunch
The Seven Samurai
The Lavender Hill Mob
Don't Look Now
Cabinet of Dr. Caligari
The 39 Steps
I doubt a lot of you have heard of a good many of these, but they're all near-perfect classics. They already ruined the Wicker Man to cater to you guys, and at what cost? Now nobody wants to see the original. I shudder to think of how they're going to sodomize the names of the great filmmakers one by one...Hitchcock...then Kurosawa...then Kubrick...
What kills me most of all is that I take the time to appreciate the layers and subtle nuances of movies and the other arts...and then some schmuck comes along and says "Oh, I don't watch movies made before 1990, tee hee..."
Call me what you will, it's not going to change the fact that 300 is a huge success while half of the moviegoing population haven't even fucking heard of Pan's Labyrinth.

Not that it's any of your business, but yes, I'm bi-sexual and I figured that out a while back (which was why I was such a homophobe when I frequented these boards more often years ago).
Gerard Butler and the guys do look pretty damn hot...that aside the movie still looks like a steaming pile of shit.

You should really learn to appreciate those who enjoy mass market entertainment.
Just think, if they weren't there, from what source would you derive the enjoyment of being a disdainful, self-righteous snob?
Be grateful!

Pah! The Stallone remake of Get Carter is artful!
"Hey, aren't you supposed to be dead now in a biting commentary on the inevitably self-defeating nature of revenge?"
"Why no, I just shave off my beard!"
