Schools are having a hard time designing rationalized policies in these law-suit happy times and its not going to be taken too seriously by the students.

"Making out goes too far" ..it just never went far enough for me but I can see the point, otherwise it's overblown. What, a high five can lead to a hand that might accidently slip and grab a tit, much less kill someone? What about sports and gym then? A no contact policy there as well??
P.C liberal, leftist, socialist policies- they could as easily say "Hey punk, don't poke/hit/punch/slap/grope someone" But instead they are attempting to outlaw physcial contact. It's all Politically Correct to say that all forms of physical touching are wrong, reality is that some forms are okay and some are not. Do parents think that their kids are having sex 24/7 at the lockers? Can teachers do no better than to educate then to start watchdogging the halls now?
The end result- more suspensions and press coverage on how young people are hooking up and no change in teenager behaviour, it will be a national crisis.
So says the article..it seems to boil down to schools being over-populated. A school meant to populate 850 students has 1,100 students. At my school, when all the chicks get in their huggy social groups, its like a pack instinct takes hold causing a bottle-neck in an already too narrow hallway. The rest of the herd can do nothing but pile up against the impediment. You have three minutes between periods to nash it to your next class. You have no choice but to plow through, if you can pass a highfive or get a quick hug from some girl, good enough. If you accidently have to brush against some breastage or arse of a girl, not too bad either. Teachers are usually stoting about the halls keeping the flow going anyway. If your going for more than a quick hug there are less crowed areas in the school to do it and no bloody policy is going to stop that.
Lack of traffic flow leads to boredom, boredom leads to experimentation, which leads to orgies in the hallways which leads to babies. Christ sake whats next down the road? No looking? Can they not take some faith in the majority of students to know that we can understand crossing the lines..If this were imposed on my school, id be touching everything due to repression. School dances would suck

God, I couldn't even finish reading your post.
Yeah, it's messed up, and you can list the numerous ways it's messed up and the numerous better solutions, but then you go and say "OMG LOOK WHAT THE LIBERALS DID" and that kind of kills it. This has NOTHING to do with the political line - not everything is "liberal" or "conservative". This has to do with A. the fact that no one agrees on the best way to raise children, and B. Schools desire to have strict black-and-white rules to avoid lawsuits and make their jobs easier.

well it sure as hell aint the conservatives so I guess that kinda narrows it down a bit doesn't it?
as far as I'm concerned, any person who wants the government to raise their kids wants communism

Well, I understand what he means but yeah, its definatly not "liberals", its more likely uptight churchgoing old ladies (who happen to vote republican)

How you went from a no touching policy to government raising kids is beyond me. Also who says it AIN't the conservatives eh? Aren't the conservatives by definition the uptight churchgoing lot? At least thats the platform they ran on, to lure the religious right to vote for them in the last election.
So it would seem to me more of a conservative policy to want to enforce a no touch policy than the liberals.
Next time try thinking before you post. mmkay?

I have thought many times that no amount of stupidity surprises me anymore, and every time turns out I was wrong.
Aerothorn on 20/6/2007 at 06:06
Yeah, how this turned into a "IT'S THE LIBERALS" "NO IT'S THE CONSERVATIVES" fest is beyond me.

I think we should concentrate more on the phrase "brushing up against the arse of a girl", cos I like the way that sounds.
Shug on 20/6/2007 at 07:17
it's the GIRL GERMS that are the problem
