So, vulgar songs about anal penetration are deemed inspirational?
You better bloody believe it. Just keep going on, the heavenly kingdom is already yours.

Maybe among all those albums theres some decent music, but from what I've heard it's all amateurish guff.
Amateurish? You're either talking about musicianship or you're completely nuts. It's not easy to take NIN's kinda themes, those sorts of sounds, that many layers and some very abrasive songs and still have them come out bristling with pop hooks.
Anyway, I don't listen to all that many instrumentals but mine would be Coil's At the Heart of it All (this piano&clarinet piece is the original of the NIN cover remixed by Aphex Twin - though I like both I prefer this one by leagues).
A Warm Place and Help Me I'm in Hell are both instrumentals I love by NIN.
The b-side Ion by Placebo's another good instrumental.
Heavy Vegetable by Slint.
This short little bit (

Installation no. 1 by Einsturzende Neuboeueotnentwtwhateveren - though it does have one word repeated occasionally.

Depeche Mode - Agent Orange + Stjarna + Sibeling
Erasure - Tragic
and then there are tons of soundtracks both films and games.

No not one word. There's atleast "disobey", "it's a law" and "the music sleeps in the machine".
Wüste is better IMO, although it has some whispered voice in it. The Ballet version (what a name) is completely instrumental version if I remember correctly.

Yeah, I remember "it's a law" now. Still not "the music sleeps in the machine" though -- is it really far back in the mix or something?
Been a couple of months since I've listened to the track though.

Good, but I prefer (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=he8fMUmxHOU) Telephaisic Workshop, it captures the same distorted essence of harmony that I like so much in Session.
I adore Air and Zero 7 for some bare instrumental tracks, such as Ghost Song from the Virgin Suicides soundtrack, but most of their better songs feature vocals.
I also have a lot of love for Godspeed you Black Emperor, which are mostly instrumental but often feature voice sampling over the top of their ragtag orchestral sound, like (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cS2BrxcWWZA) The Dead Flag Blues. One of my favourite tracks ever, if you've never heard it before, listen (the video in this instance isn't half bad either, and very fitting with what GYBE do themselves).
I, of course, have a massive library of movie soundtracks, almost all of which are instrumental but I don't really think many of them belong here.

I think it's rather far back...but since I actually prefer Barry Adamson's mix I can't really remember, it was a long time since I heard the track. I think it's too long...
Another good instrumental:

Emerson Lake & Palmer's version of "Fanfare for the common man". Full version goes for about 10 minutes.
