Has no one-mentioned Tortoise yet? Shall I?
Benway, off Standards (I think? I'm shit at albums). Awesome track - starts off with some sonorous 8-bit type wavering synths and bass, like an NES singing at a Gameboys funeral, but down some kind of digital well. Maybe also on the moon, I'm not certain. Before that passes from 'atmospheric' into 'dull', a chirpy little bit of plinky guitars sneak in like one of those cartoon sunshines on the weather map, rapidly progressing into one of those great breakdowns that manages to sound heavy without being anywhere near distorted. I love this tune. Always makes me smile on the bus.

Muse - The Gallery is not a instrumental, that song has words throughout it.

No words. Or maybe words cunningly disguised to sound exactly like a piano.

Is there an instrumental only version?
icemann on 29/2/2008 at 04:29
Hmm I`ll have to download another version then lol. Sorry. The one I downloaded sounded like it was from a concert.
Cant believe I didn`t mention this one earlier but heres another really good one:
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
Love that tune. Totally piano. From Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness album. Smashing Pumpkins at their prime.

I think you're confusing that with Siamese Dream actually. Or am I DayDream-ing?

Gish or nothing, Smashing Pumpkins goodness was directly proportional to the length of Billy Corgans hair.

Actually you are both wrong icemann and Subjective Effect. It is the title track from Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness although Through the Eyes of Ruby does have a little hidden instrumental track at the end of it.
I always though Gish was one of their average efforts. Some cools riffs, drumming, leads etc but most of the songs are a bit weak imo,
