(I intend to buy the Quadrilogy set as well. Does it contain extended version of both Alien and Aliens, and possibly deleted scenes from Alien 3?)
Yup, yup, and yup. Theatrical versions of all 4 movies, plus extended versions of each. The director's cut of Alien 3 is really quite different from the original.
Also, Vivian have you been taking Koki pills?

Yeah, but is it better and - more importantly - good enough to be a proper movie now? I quite liked a lot of the ideas and the atmosphere in Alien 3, but you could definitely see that the movie was 'broken'. It just required a tad more coherence and for some ideas to be properly fleshed out. Does the new cut do that?
Resurrection, on the other hand, was complete dogshit, imo.

I would say it's better. It provides quite a bit more character development and fleshes out further some ideas. There are a few things that are quite different, as well- the alien host is an ox, rather than a dog.
Resurrection is an abortion. I don't get why people talk so much shit about Alien versus Predator ruining the Aliens franchise when Alien Resurrection did it first. Thanks, Joss Whedon!

The story behind A3 is really quite sad. Quite a few of the actors recalled that the movie was on track to be great, until the suits decided to "rescue" it.
I'm sure you know that already, tho.
