your opinion on if the golden child survived soul forge
there was nothing about him in thief 3 but i have a hard time thinking he is gone :(

The final cutscene shows one of the combat bots slowly breaking down, so I imagine the same thing happened to the golden child. I also got the impression there was an element of magic or undead within these machines which gave them their faculties, and that it was linked to Karras, so when he died, they reverted to being a collection of gears and panels etc.

but the combo bots were able to be destroyed while the golden child was not able to be hurt "i dont know of anyone would did soulforge and got the most amount of items to damage golden child to see if maybe if you got the max damage items maybe he was beatable???" making mines, fire arrows, starburst device/etc = forgot if that was in that level or a om of it???
i believe the golden child was the newest tech by karrass better then anything else at the time hence why it was so strong to anything we threw at him
also i wondered if it would be possible to move the golden child outside of level before you end it??? the double metal doors, or does he have max limits to move within a certain area?
i personally would never hurt the golden child as i felt he was non harmful unless he gets loose to go tell on you :P

The Golden Child was really annoying but harmless. That being said it's dead in my opinion.

i always felt the golden child was the successor of karrass since there was only one, unless the one in life of the party was different then the one in soul forge???

I always assumed it broke down the same way as the combat bots. Even though the rust gas was meant for organic life it apparently had an effect on the machinery when in great concentrations. With Karras holing up in Soulforge I would assume he'd want his invincible Cherubs there too so they would've perished in the aftermath. Could be a fun idea for an FM to escape the 1 or few surviving Cherub bots.
Would be more imposing if they did this:

cool vid but i don't like the ka-boom move it did, i think it would be better to have it be a bit faster then Garrett but goes to warn/trigger more enemy's if spotted, also his robot suit should be bigger as he would have grown up and needed bigger suit with more things on it for defense/offence moves

That freaked me out a bit. I never really liked the golden child because it's triggering due to real life experiences in the workforce. That being said, a exploding version is pretty cool.
Sometimes I wonder if Karras added some of his DNA into that robot because that thing is indestructible. If that were the case Karras could live on in future missions.
