I believe this was already addressed in the second e-mail sent back on May 19, immediately after the initial e-mail?

Google is killing off the "Legacy G Suite" edition of "Google Workspace" which we have been using for free, some of us for many years.
I've been through the denial, the begging, the wishing, the hoping, but the Google money machine has spoken and this free offering I've been able to share simply cannot continue.
Expect your account to be GONE JUNE 20, 2022. This gives you 31 days.
I'm sure many of you have accounts linked to this E-mail. Move them off, ASAP.
Most of you have Google Photos/Videos, this is a tool to download this content: (
https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/3024190) How to download your Google data - Google Account Help (Cannot provide help with using this tool.) Download your data ASAP.
We had a good run. I'm sorry to see it go, but I cannot do anything about it.
Please direct any complaints to Google, not to me.

Lots of people are trying to be helpful and share links to different articles talking about how the "Legacy G Suite" edition can be continued for non-business use. Trust me, I've read them all. The part you're missing is that it's for domains with ten or less users. (We have around 300 active users.)

Ah. Good catch.

How about this, then:
Quote:
For businesses, the G Suite legacy free edition will no longer be available starting June 27, 2022. We recommend you upgrade now to a Google Workspace subscription that meets your needs to begin using your new security and collaboration functionality at no cost through August 1, 2022. Select the Flexible payment plan when you upgrade to a Business edition and billing won't start until at least August 1, 2022.
If you wait, your account will be automatically transitioned to Google Workspace after June 27, 2022. To complete your upgrade and avoid account suspension, you'll need to set up Google Workspace billing before August 1, 2022.
Unless I'm missing something, that says we could
let the upgrade happen and not set up Google workspace billing.. This would give all of our users the maximum amount of time to transition away from the @trioptimum.com address, and
cost cortex nothing.
At this point, even those of us who didn't regularly use the E-mail service often enough to see Cortex's warning messages have been amply warned by the shuttering if any linked services. Allowing the service to run through the end of the allowable period gives us freeloaders more than enough time to get off of your lawn.

I downloaded all my data from Google Takeout, sharing my photo albums and Youtube account with my new email, etc, to mixed success. Google won't import a mailbox archive to a new account, but at least is isn't gone. I will have to manually dredge through Excel sheets to rebuild YT playlists and libraries.
I tried to be good and change all my sign-ins on other sites to a different email. Some sites, like Slack for my family and my password manager Dashlane, bake the sign-up email into the user name and it cannot be changed.
Too late I discovered that Google Fi, my mobile network, is like this, and I may lose my phone number as well. I can't verify with the security code they send to the old address, so they can't help me set up the new one. At this point I'm not even sure I can cancel my plan, except blocking payment through my bank. Will that affect my credit? Who knows!

Wow, that's extreme. Sorry to hear it! Knowing how serious the collateral damage can actually get for the users, I feel like the very least Google shoud've done is contacting each of us and offer assistance.

If Google is indeed treating the @trioptimum.com user group as a business, then I expect they will offer no assistance whatsoever to individual users. They would, at best, contact cortex and tell him to contact us (unlikely). More likely, they will ignore us because they can't determine whether we are scammers trying to gain access to a business' data.
My work uses a Google mail solution, and if you leave the company you lose all access... by design, for reasons of company security.

CortexReaver sent us multiple warnings that this was going to happen. So I transferred everything that I could remember being registered with the @trioptimum.com address to a new e-mail address.
I don't know if it would actually be possible to have kept this working; apparently the number of users being over 10 was an issue. But we managed to keep our @ttlg.com accounts, which are also hosted by Google, and I'm sure that there's more than 10 of us using it.
I didn't actually get any warnings. (This is probably the one time I was invited to something where they had to bother you by bothering me to bother investigating my deleted email.
I have since sent support message here on the Forum which I rarely come to sorry I know how you miss me and the email came back but it's not and then I was able to log on whereas before) my account was deleted and now I don't know what to do I want to go back to bed after bonging more beer, but I'm getting old, I can just drink it.
I'll keep looking into this for the next little while because I kind of needed to work and then if it doesn't I don't know what I'll do.
Sorry if that isn't clear. Many such cases.

You're probably right. Can't say I ever bothered trying to learn the details of this seemingly "free" account offer.

I knew that it would one day be hijacked, and so I simply knew that it would one day come when I least expected it and lived my life with duplicate backups.
I do wonder if it's possible to get it back. However I'm not super enthusiastic about my digital footprint online these days anyway. Whoever is interrupting and intercepting my incoming messages will likely get tired of pretending to be me, soon enough.
