Don't know how realistic it is, but what I'd like to do is (slowly... probably over the course of a year or more) create a mission that never made it into the game called "The Grave" (interesting little bookending with "The Cradle", which bizarrely, was unintended). I still have all the documentation for it.
It's a kind of Hammer-themed mass tomb.
Not sure it'd be quite as scary as Shalebridge, given that it's a bit more grounded in Thief fiction than than the purely additive Cradle mythology, but it'd be a very ... intense experience, if implemented as specced. :)

Um...did I like read that right?
Dude - you know how long we tried to persuade Randy and Emil in here about getting them to finish the levels (after LGS closed) that they started on for the possibility of the so-called
"Eidos T2 expansion pack"? A couple of the one's Emil spoke of specifically sounded awesome - and it seemed a lil like he wanted to do so...which was way cool.
Oh, I certainly hope you do create that level (sounds great btw) Mr Null - I'm sure thiefmissions.com will see a "record bandwidth used day" when you release that puppy...

Wow null that sounds like a great idea!
Now that I finally have the editor working (no thanks to Zone Alarm) I'll start off small with a single mansion mission but try and inject an element of horror, such as a kid dying mysteriously in it or a cuckolded wife being whacked. What I lack in attention to architectural detail, I'll make up for in use of ambient sounds and cheap scares.

What ZoneAlarm problems did you have, Hogwash? I'm about to install T3ED myself and was wondering...

A small tip that might be helpful to those of you running ZoneAlarm or similar software:
Launching the game from inside the editor causes ZA to ask about the program wanting to run as a server on port 25001, which appears to halt the loading process. Unfortunately--on XP at least--the Thief program will not relinquish focus to any of the standard techniques (Alt+Tab, Ctrl+Alt+Del, Start menu key, et. al.), so actually dealing with the dialogue can be problematic. I used a proprietary key on my Logitech keyboard that brings up the Welcome screen.
Basically if your computer hangs on the loading screen when you launch a map through the editor, it is most likely ZA asking for permission. Luckily, like Despot my keyboard has a 'User' key which I could use to get back to the desktop to tick off the bubble and thus grant it the permission.

I had the same problem, with out the luxury of a user key. Pressing Enter twice solved the problem (admittedly at the expense of having no idea what I just consented/refused to do:erg: )

I second LMF's excitement. And I much prefer missions grounded in the Thief mythology rather than something outside of it, so bring on the Bonehoard tribute mission :thumb:.
Yes, it would also rock to get an unofficial expansion from a dev (can we call it a fan mission?? maybe a DM = dev mission). We all loved The Cradle and don't doubt you could pull off a properly implemented 'intense experience'. Hey, you wouldn't happen to want to part with all those notes and mission documentation like Emil did, eh eh?
Next objective: get Stephen Russell to voice-act for a few custom lines in your mod (and get Eidos, or whoever owns intellectual property to Thief by that time, to allow it). Hah, I'm funny ;)

Actually, a fan-mission made by the original game designer is a dream. Yeah.

The level that I plan on building is going to be based on an actual location. I've been researching it for a while now. The original plan was to build it for Ravenshield, but that is not the type of game that welcomes a level that is meant to be explored. So when I heard about the campaign last year for TDS, I began researching it again. I can't go UE'ing there as the city has the perimeter of the place lit up like an X-mas tree. Thankfully, I have found several pictures of the building, current and historical, and terraserver provides a rough detail of the exterior walls.
Unfortunately, because I suck with texture creation and do not have the nice toys to create the awesome sounds, I am likely to use the stuff from the Cradle. I should note however, that listening to an EVP recording of the site I intend to map reminded me of the cradle. If everything can work out right, it should turn out to be a highly difficult and scary level.
BTW, how did you IONStormers create the awesome, but scary sounding ghost noises?
