AMD Athlon XP 1800+
1GB PC2100 DDR RAM
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
For the basis, the Timeshift demo ran great for me with all details maxed, so I'd imagine Oblivion would be playable.
Even so, If I can get at least 15-20 frames per second, I'll be happy.
*looks at box*
Uh o...
*Runs off to Newegg to get a cheap DVD-Rom drive*
Ahh, the only thing standing between me and Oblivion... a 5-minute optical drive swap. :p

Intel P4 3.2 Ghz
1 Gb Ram

Should be ok to run Oblivion, so no worries there.

Intel Pentium D 820 2.8 GHz, 800MHz FSB
1GB DDR2
Radeon X600 Pro 256Mb
Sweet on the CPU and memory, 3D card adequate and the limiting factor... in the market for a 7800GT so should be mega-smooth when I get that :D

I've got the AGP version of that card. I spent nearly $400 on it back in September (it was allegedly the 'last and greatest AGP card to be made') and now it's selling for way cheap.
I feel cheated out. I want that AGP version of the GeForce 7800 :(

It really sucks doesn't it? I can't do my piecemeal upgrading anymore because the old standards have switched over the last couple of years. So now I have to get 2 new harddrives, a new graphics card, a new mobo, a new processor. Everything...minus the ram...all at once.
That's the reason why I've waited longer to upgrade than usual. It'll be a hefty chunk 'o change this go-round.

PCI-E is really a bit of a pain in the arse isn't it? I'm in the same position, where the next upgrade will probably include new motherboard, disks and processor. I may as well buy a completely new computer...
