While Oblivion is likely to be good, it's been so long since I went out and got a $50 game...just too many old cheap games I still need to pick up and play. Dunno if I'll get it upon release, as much as I loved Morrowind.

Should be enough to get by. Unfortunately Oblivion isn't coming out here until Thursday, apparently, but what can you do?*

*Preorder, I suppose. But I can't do that. :(

Athlon 3500+ Venice core @ 2500MHz
ATI Radeon x800 Pro clocked at 520core/500Mem
2GB OCZ Platinum PC3200
Logitech Z5500 500W 5.1 sound system (w00t)
Audigy 2 ZS
Should be decent at 1024x768 with higher details, or 1280x960 at medium (I'm hoping). at 1024x768 I'll probably need to turn on AA for it to look decent, but maybe the HDR will help with that.

I'll be the brave 'lil guy, forging ahead though not well equipped.
Prokker: AthlonXP 1700+
Grapphers: Radeon 9800Pro 128 Meg
Rammers: 1Gb Corsair PC3200 DDR XMS Pro Series (
http://www.corsairmicro.com/corsair/xms_proseries.html) with cool blinky lights that serve no purpose whatsoever
My processor is gonna choke me here, but I'm still gonna make the attempt nonetheless.

I'm going to see how it works on my desktop
2800+ Athalon Xp
1 gig Kingston 333 ram
Radeon 9700 pro (three years old baby!)
Probably medium-low settings, but I'll hopefully be able to do medium-high on my lappy,
1.7 pentium M
1 gig DDR2 ram at god knows what, i think 433 or higher
256mb 6600 go
It can run farcry perfectly smooth with everything on max, 4xAA, anistropic, the whole she-bang, So i'm hoping for good performance on it with oblivion.
Renzatic on 18/3/2006 at 05:56
Fish, if it runs decently for you make sure to tell me. I can easily upgrade to an XP2800+ for a smallish amount of money...it'd make for a nice go-between for this comp and my eventual full upgrade.
But if it doesn't, I'll just wait til later.

Athlon 64 3000+ (that's about 2Ghz actual clock speed, but effective 3)
1 Gb RAM
Radeon 9800 AIW Pro 128Mb
It's got to be playable!
EDIT: also I fancy lugging the PC into the other room just so I can plug it into my Sony Bravia widescreen LCD TV for LARGE HD goodness Xbox 360 who needs one eh
RyushiBlade on 18/3/2006 at 19:37
Actually, that's not a bad idea. I've got an HDTV just ten feet away. (It's directly behind me, which makes watching tv and doing computer stuff a bit difficult.)
