Mmm, I really don't know how I managed this....don't remember doing anything special...but I can tell you that her first quest was active before she even gave it to me. I was wandering round Ald Velothi on Redoran business when I encountered the three slavehunters and learned they were after an escaped Kitty. Then I spoke to the Arvel woman at the docks and found out where he was. Then I went to talk to him, but all he would say was that he was hiding and wanted to be left alone, followed by the red "goodbye". I couldn't get him to follow me, so I checked on the Internet for the quest walkthrough, and found out that Ilmeni is supposed to give you this quest. So I went to talk to her and she gave me the quest officially, which opened up J'Saddha's dialogue options to follow me, and I then finished the quest. Then she gave me the next one. Weird, huh?

Ok, it gets even weirder; I've just talked to Vedam Dren, asked about "Cammona Tong", and he promptly named me Hlaalu Grandmaster?! He also said he was glad I spared Orvas's life. So I check my journal and it says I have just killed Orvas Dren and been promoted to Grandmaster. Check my stats menu and it has me listed as a member of Hlaalu, rank Retainer. Tried chatting to a few Hlaalus and they clearly recognise me as a fellow Hlaalu. I know there was a bug in the original game allowing you to join 2 great houses, but I do have the patch installed (US 1.2) although I had been playing for several weeks before I installed it.......so what's going on?
I know for certain that Hlaalu wasn't in my factions list before tonight.

Re: Ilmeni, that actually makes some sense; if you got a Journal entry from that 'escaped slave' quest, that might be enough to short-circuit Ilmeni into thinking you're kosher. Gotta look into that'un tonight. *rubs his chin and goes hmmmmmm*
As to Vedam, yeah, that's a known bug; I think you might even be able to talk to him over and over about 'em until until you get Hlaalu GM status. Funky, neh?

Cool, I can do all the Hlaalu quests as well now!! I'll have to pretend that they let me in because I'm the Nerevarine (perks of the job, y'know). Might be interesting when it comes to the Caldera ebony mine though, I suppose I'll have to choose sides at some point.....
