I recently finished Thief: Deadly Shadows and would like to play all the excellent T2 fan missions that have come out in recent years. The problem is, there's something about my latest PC that T2 doesn't like, and it won't work.
I'm running T2 (version 1.18) through Garrettloader v1.41. I've checked, and yes, GarrettLoader is automatically doing the "set affinity to one core" thing for the T2 executable when it runs. I also applied DDFix v1.3.11 (for 1600x1200, my preferred res.). It didn't help.
The problems I'm seeing are of two types:
-One, with the original missions installed: I can get all the way into starting the first mission, but the game world is frozen, and there's no sound beyond Garrett talking to himself. For example, after you wander around a bit near the mansion gate, he says something about checking his map. I can move around, crouch, etc., but cannot bring up any items or weapons. The lightgem appears to work, and the game world generally looks as I recall it should. No weird colors or missing/distorted textures. However, I cannot interact with anything, such as doors.
-Two, with a fan mission installed: game simply crashes when entering the actual mission (after movies and the final objectives review screen).
An example of the latter is when I use Garrettloader to install "Gathering at the Inn" & try to play it.
So I am not having any problems with the movies, which a lot of people seem to have problems with. Rather, it's with actually playing the game. Pre-mission menus work fine, but I get a crash, or a weirdly frozen game world, when entering the mission.
FWIW, here's my system:
Asus P5E3 WS Pro motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 processor
4 GB RAM
GeForce 9800 GTX video card, using drivers version 181.22
Audigy 2 ZS sound card, using latest drivers (they were last updated in 2006!)
Windows XP SP3
DirectX 9.0c
The only other programs running are Symantec Antivirus corporate edition, and of course Garrettloader, and various and sundry things like Logitech Mouseware, and the Creative sound mixer applet.
So far, I can only play T3 or T3 fan missions. I looked through this forum a bit, but haven't found anyone else having the same problems. Any ideas?

You likely have the wrong version of Convict.osm installed.

The affinity fix in Garrettloader is obviously rubbish. (

Well done EU, its hard to keep up with all these tech request these days...:cheeky:

No, that's not quite it. I re-downloaded the T2 version of convict.osm to (123 kB, dated 27 March 2000) to be sure, but Gathering at the Inn still crashes.
Another FM, The Cistern, works fine so far.
By the way, it was difficult to find the T2 convict.osm. The download link at Thief-The Circle is broken. Unfortunately, that download page is linked to from a lot of posts in this forum, and elsewhere.
Anyway, having the wrong convict.osm wouldn't explain the "frozen world" symptoms when trying to play the original missions, would it? That still happens.
I applied the "real" multiprocessor fix you linked, but it made no difference. I didn't really think it would, since T2 was running on only one core to begin with anyway, just with Garrettloader's fix.
Some FMs crash, some don't. There's no pattern to it that I can see.

Do you have all the "extra" scripts installed also?

I think I have all the necessary scripts installed. How can I check to be sure?
