Jesus, Malf, I thought this thread was announcing the return of the titular Yes song to Homeworld: Remastered's credits. Talk about raising a person's hopes.
j/k, I thought the song was pretty middling compared to Starship Trooper which was totally what they should have gone with instead

I was expecting a video game adaptation of When Harry Met Sally.

It's kinda weird how the Kojima's and Miyamoto's are spoken of often, but people like Jeff Minter are barely known at all, even though they've been with the games industry making games since nearly the beginning. He started off with the Spectrum (if I remember right) in the 80s and he's never really stopped making games. There isn't really that many programmers out there that are still making games, who started out back then. Nearly all of them went off to other things by this stage.
That's a true passionate games dev right there.
I'll admit that even for me, I know of him only thanks to Retro Gamer Magazine which has had numerous articles with mentions about him in there.

Yeah, he also develops all his own tools and engines too. Think he actually started out on the Vic20, but even that might be wrong. I know he always preferred Commodore to Sinclair.
He's always in Retro Gamer 'cos a lot of the editorial staff post on his forum over at (
http://www.yakyak.org/index.php) YakYak and have been in the industry as long as he has, so they're all mates. The music for TxK was all written by YakYakers, and is ace. Talented bunch.
It's well worth taking a gander at the forums over there if you're even remotely interested in indie development, especially the "Things to make and do" subsection.

I thought it had something to do with Daniel Bryan.

So... still no Episode 3 or HL3, then? :(

Speaking as someone who actually enjoys his games... he's perhaps barely known because nearly every game he's ever written has been a knockoff or port of someone else's game, albeit a pretty good one. Originality is not his forte.

Too true. Though that was extremely common in the 80s. Hell many games these days are knockoffs of other games. More so if you look to mobile games.
