I tried again with a printed out map of the bridge...

You just ruined a good part of the experience of first playing the game... :(

It would indeed be an atrocity to play the game like that the first time.
Fear not, these speedy attempts were my 9th/10th/11th playthroughs.
I just can't remember the bridge layout ever.

Do you mean you completed SS1 or SS2 in just over thirteen minutes?

However the hell you completed it in that short time, you have to know the game very well.

Considering SS2 doesn't have a "Difficulty index 0", it's safe to assume he's referring to SS1.

Completing the game (SS1) in 13 minutes isn't at all difficult if you're playing with a difficulty index of 0. The hardest part is probably battling SHODAN.

Yarr. On difficulty index 0, the monsters stand there and do not attack, all doors spring open at a touch and Cyberspace is a joke.
First runthrough I wasted a few mins per level grabbing upgraded Pulser versions because I didn't know you are handed v8 on a plate at the start of the SHODAN run. I also got stuck trying to find the buttons in Security to extend the force bridge to avoid the mines. If I was more skilled with jump boots I could do security in under a minute. A printout of the Bridge map would refine the last few minutes...
All together I think SS1 could be finished in under 8 minutes by some D'Arcy-like Shock Prodigy.
And it was Melee only because I didn't want to Save Scum for a Sparq. Do I get my gold wrench?
I didn't know if 'Difficulty index 0' might just be slang for 'easiest difficulty level'.
I have only played all the way through SS1 once, so couldn't remember what the difficulty settings looked like.

Not on Cyberspace 0 ;)
On my newest, 9:34 attempt, the only problem was
the force wall just before the pipebomb maze - it kept closing at unfortunate moments.
If I work out the timing, I might FRAPS the run.
