Yeah, too damn easy... - by Skronk

Mages... specifically npc mages can be extremely overpowered... it isn't that hard to make a 50pt dmg 3 sec spell, and it doesn't take a whole lot of magicka...npc's have the bonus of having a higher maximum magicka than players... dremora lords have 200 max magicka I think, and many mods give them a whole lot more. Though the default game gives them some really weak spells... If you try out most of the creature mods, or some that just feature some new creatures, you will find the spell casters somewhat difficult.
Being a player mage has some definate disadvantages too. Sure, they can make those 50pt dmg spells, but any form of reflect will result in the mage killing off a quarter to a third of their hp with that 1 blast. Many daedra have a reflection percent of 20 or sometimes 50. And mage's aren't known for thier high vitality.
Btw: Battlemages wear heavy armor.

Yeah, reflect on the NPCs is abusive. I really hesitate before I cast that first spell on a golden saint. If the first one makes it, usually the others will too, but if the first one reflects, I run like hell. ;)
I am playing a Breton + Atronach 'Arcane Agent' (6 magic disciplines, light armor, long blade, speechcraft, security ). Currently my max magicka is 347 (99 intelligence) but when I get my constant effect clothing, all with fortify intelligence, it will be alot higher, probably 600 or so. Usually I can clear out a dungeon using 3-5 'exclusive restore magicka' potions, or 2 mark/intervention/recalls to and from the nearest temple. :D

When I was exploring around Dagoth Ur's town about a week after MW came out, I found myself going up against a mob (Dagoth Ur) who seemed quite invincible(he was) and seemed to have spells that would kill me before the DoT ran out (he did)
Fortunately enough for me, the way the 'fireball' situation presents itself is in a 'ball' that floats at you, and doesn't swerve. Also, the NPCs have a timing script, which can be exploited. Furthermore, any regen items more than heal you enough to run about and etc etc.
Really need some more advanced anti-exploit scripts. Like summoning (ala EQ).
MW sux.
(Ps: got st key today)

I believe the majority of the development was spent on geography/buildings etc, as well as npcs. The graphical engine is crap(hence reputably low fps) and the gameplay was below par. Casters generally suck, and big brute warriors(me!) did the most damage etc.
PS: nice clothing =\

When i first read this thread, i thought "these guys are all insane" because i was quite low-level at that time, but now i'm also finding the game too easy at standard difficulty level. I am a battlemage (yeeees, yes, a mage in heavy armor), and yesterday i met this wierd robot-like gold monster. Not knowing what it was, i chopped her 4 times with my Bound Battleaxe, and she fell to the ground. I was very surprised when i saw this was a Golden Saint (i have read about Golden Saints on this forum before). I can imagine that the game is much harder if you are playing a thief-like character though.
I'm at level 19, Axe and Heavy armor are among my major skills, axe skill is currently at 72, so with the +10 the bound battleaxe gives you, thats 82. I also dropped a Winged Twilight with a bound longbow (2 - 50 damage) yesterday with about 5 arrows and my marksman skill only is like 20 or 25
Maybe i should try that difficulty slider, because dungeons just aren't challenging anymore ...

Yes. This game wasn't 'balanced' properly. Single player games don't need balance as much as multiplayer of course, but this is just silly.
Really, they should make mages 'much' more powerful With powerful AE spells. Or make the custom ones less mana/more damage etc.
With even a smidge of intelligence into your character and how to play it, MW is a 'very' easy game. It wasn't designed to be challenging, just more of a laid back easy role playing game. The worst part is that the quests require very little thinking, about as much as Mario brothers(except that was hard!) So you're left with an incredibly free, easy, game.

About the custom spells... it -really- bugs me that if you have a spellmaker make you a spell with the exact same stats as a premade spell, the mana cost will be higher and the success rate will be lower. Just dumb, in my opinion.

I think it makes more sense, because bought spells must have come from somewhere and been like made better through history... or something, while researched/created spells don't have that kind of history.
And why would you make a spell if you could buy it anyways?

It's easier. Buy restore X, go to spell maker, all of a sudden you have restore for all stats, w/o having to find someone who sells each one.
Don't know how it compares, cost-wise, but I have the feeling it's also cheaper to make your own than to buy premade--correct me if I'm wrong (I've never actually checked since there are SO many of each kind of spell that to get exact comparisons is tough)
