This is one of the Thieves' Guild quests, correct? Where you go looking for the guy ("Nads") and you find him dead?
If the key's not on the body, something's screwy. Maybe you accidentally picked it up and ditched it somewhere.
Since you're on the Xbox, you're basically stuck if you can't find the key, you won't be able to get any more Thieves' Guild quests. Unfortunately there's no workaround.
