Playing gta 3 / vice city on xbox 360 in 480p with component compared to xbox in 480i with scart is a big difference - it looks surprisingly decent in 480p. Also the warriors appears to support 720p which should hopefully be good.
But if you want to think that progressive scan doesn't make a difference because "you're blowing the picture up anyway so it'll still look shite" then that's up to you. In my experience it improves the quality a fair bit.

I tried to play The Warriors on a HD TV.
It was a blurry mess that gave me a splitting headache.

It's not really an either/or thing. Assuming we're talking about 480p games (not the 720p games which, yes, do exist in the last generation), they do benefit from some elements of the HD TV, namely much better and brighter colors. But yeah, on a 40 inch it's going to look like ass (though that's arguably as much of a size issue as an HD one, isn't it?). I've been playing on a 32 inch, which runs the game in a smaller window (960 instead of 1080) and it really doesn't look that bad. Text isn't as sharp and jaggies are even more apparent, and I'd still prefer a CRT, but it's not awful.

okay, managed to get hold of some of the bigger type controllers - wow i never realised just quite how big they are but thankfully the buttons aren't too difficult. Analogue seems a lot better though. Wonder how it compares to the s controller.
The only problem is, 3 of the are without the break away cables, so i cannot use them :| Bang goes multiplayer then! Anyone got any spare cables they don't need?
