Unfortunately, your
opinion seems to be formed purely on ignorance. Marvel does not write a goddamn thing. The company employs writers with various levels of talent. Sometimes those writers produce crap. Sometimes they don't.
God knows I've been down on them as a company because I find superheroes generally to be boring and adolescent in a bad way (although sometimes they're (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nextwave) gloriously adolescent), but despite that I wouldn't dismiss everything they produce as crap, because they emply some very talented people.
Can you please try to argue without splitting hairs and actually reading my entire post? When I refer to Marvel's crappy writing, who do you
think I am referring to other than
crappy writers? And since you obviously missed it the first time, I will reiterate: Marvel comics occasionally have good writing- see the examples I cited above- and for what it's worth, the
Barracuda mini series was
amazing though it started to sputter out a bit by the end. But by and large I've found them almost as unreadable as anything Frank Miller's written since the mid-1990s. For example, their method of retconning. You can argue all you want about DC's Universe Destroying Crises™ but as far as I'm concerned it's a fucking better idea than Satan Did It™. It's gotten to the point where the video games have better stories.

You are the least qualified to make this call, for the record.
And I'm assuming you
are qualified?

His point is that we're each our own worse authorities at judging the difference between our personal opinions and "reality". Which is kind of common sense, really.

Exactly. I know I've certainly had to be kept in line before.

The conga line doesn't count. And I certainly know when I run over my reality like a speed bump in a vast Walmart parking lot. I spill my drink.

You may see it as splitting hairs but you don't do yourself any favours by saying "Marvel writes..." because it's a complete inaccuracy and seemed to show you having no idea of how comics are actually made. I still think you must be arguing from ignorance because you've still only cited Punisher and Spider-Man comics. What else have you read that has sucked so much? More importantly, by
whom? The writers are the important part of the process, not the characters, as a good writer can make an old character, thought worthless, great (Morrison's Animal Man run, Bendis with Luke Cage, Abnett's Nova run, etc). "Satan Did It" wasn't even the writer's fault, it was editorially mandated. My problem with your posts is not that you're saying all Marvel comics (except 2 or 3) are shit. It's that I don't believe you have read very many Marvel comics recently.
Have you, for example, read
Annihilation, written mainly by Keith Giffen, Bendis's
New Avengers, Greg Pak's
Planet Hulk or quite a few others if you'd like recommendations of comics that I think are very good?

What the fuck is this shit? I say "Marvel writes..." and you people get into a fight over the WORDING of my sentence and call me ignorant?
Sweet Christmas, are you that hard up for arguing with me? There's plenty of other things you could call me on but you choose THAT?
Jesus Christ.
As to stuff worth arguing over, I don't have time to get into a debate over the content of Marvel's comics right now, though I'll admit that a few Hulk comics have been readable.
