Possibly, but after 20mins I couldn't find any download links, so thought it easier to upload thew versions I had..

Yes thank you - i just meant it seems strange for them not to follow numbering. I am appreciative for any working driver thank you. I hope it will work

Good luck!
Unfortunately 7 (and vista?) drivers don't seem up to snuff yet - my sound doesn't seem as good on my new Windows 7 system as it did on my older system despite me using the exact same X-Fi card. So enjoy your high-quality sound while it lasts!

Sadly it still doesn't seem to help :(

its possible the card is faulty, can you try it in another pc, like a spare or a friends pc..?

Hmm i just found out that it is a dell card - the model number says SB0460 but looking at the serial number it is actually a SB0467 which is apparently a dell oem version. Should this cause problems installing it then or would it just be a problem card? I wonder if such things need special drivers, or if they would even work on machines that aren't dells.
There is this too: (
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?CRE-XMO) but whether it would actually work, being a weird oem one, I do not know.

Its quite lickly, I would now suggest you download the bell specific driver for that card, as Dell will have certainly modified the card and the drivers..
here is a thread on Dell's forum with the driver download links you need - (

That card from Novatech will work perfectly.

hmm that novatech one seems to be the one they are referring to in that dell topic. Anyway, I now have a normal extreme gamer (SB073A) so no tearing my hair out with dell drivers. Don't have the dell one anymore to test but was just interested. Sadly this extreme gamer cannot be upgraded to connect to a front bay drive - but to be honest I am more glad that it works :)
For some reason it states that it wont connect with certain front panel audio connectors :S And lists types as ac97 included. This doesn't make sense to me as I don't see how they are ac97 or intel hd or whatever - they are only connectors. I have yet to try connecting it up mind cos it's fiddly, but it seems they are implying it will not work - I don't see how it won't though as it's only a load of tiny connectors. The muting won't work mind cos i had to replace the 3.5 "headphone" sockets with normal 3.5 ones cos they got bust somehow (were constantly muting) ages ago.
Code:
Front Panel Header (for SB073X series)
Connection compatiblity
Intel HD Front Panel Audio standard only
Not compatible with AC97 or Intel-compatible HD Front Panel Audio
Microphone limitation
Rear microphones are automatically disabled when both front and rear microphones are connected
Pin configuration
Pin Signal Name Description
1 PORT 1L Analog Port 1 - left channel (Microphone)
2 GND Ground
3 PORT 1R Analog Port 1 - right channel (Microphone)
4 PRESENCE# Active low signal that signals BIOS that an Intel HD Audio dongle is connected to the analog header. PRESENCE# = 0 when an Intel HD Audio dongle is connected
5 PORT 2R Analog Port 2 - right channel (Headphone)
6 SENSE1_RETURN Jack detection return for front panel (JACK1)
7 SENSE_SEND Jack detection sense line from the Intel HD Audio CODEC jack detection resistor network
8 KEY Connector Key
9 PORT 2L Analog Port 2 - left channel (Headphone)
10 SENSE2_RETURN Jack detection return for front panel (JACK2)
Anyway, seems to be okay with the xtremegamer. One thing though when testing it last night is that it did cause system shock 2 to bluescreen with the error:
Quote:
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUALStop: 0x000000D1 (0X00000010, 0X00000002, 0X00000000, 0XA8B4F1AE)
ha20x2k.sys (and then i couldn't write down the rest as my computer finished the dump and restarted).
From a bit of searching it could be a driver issue or one with how the driver is meshing with windows. Not really sure. I installed the latest ones from the get go - SBXF_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0013.exe for xtreme gamer as i wasn't sure if the ones i had previously downloaded for xtreme music were the same and so thought it was best to get specific ones for the card.
You said these are known to have issues though? Is this one of them? Or what did you mean?
I could always try earlier drivers. Hmm.
Anyway, the card seems to basically work - so I guess it's time to rebuild my pc and then get dark engine games eaxing :) Thief gold was really nice with it when i tested last night - (and from how it sounded, it seemed i had actually managed to get it working in thief gold on my onboard with the latest realtek drivers and nforce2 5.11 update in the meantime while i had been waiting for xfi - so it
is possible (if you are lucky haha)). Even with xfi working on the realtek, the sound seems to be better on xfi, with much nicer gradual fades as you get further and further away, and nicer reverb effects (although for those for the onboard i could just be remembering the horrible crappy reverb effects i was getting with realtek when eax wasnt working correctly).
Is eax as pronounced in ss2? It didn't seem it but then i might not have had it working properly - and also i dont really know how much to set the "positional audio bias" so maybe that had something to do with it - or are footsteps much less pronounced generally and eax more subtle in ss2?
Anyway sorry for rambling on and on :) Thanks for your help all... now to get some decent speakers or headphones
