I think I found the passageway to X-18. But it's locked. I thought I had the 2 keys required. One from a barkeep and the other from dead Borov. With both keys in my posession, shouldn't the door now be opened? Or is there a lock I need to use the keys on?
Maybe I never got the key from Borov. But when I went back to his body, I couldn't find anything on him or in his office.

You just need to get close to the door and press the 'use' key. Have you tried it? I know it sounds obvious, but I remember someone having the same problem.

As you approach the door, a message on the screen says that the door is closed. But I used the F key anyway, and it remained locked.

You hit use more than once, right? I remember having to do it at least twice.

Well, I couldn't say for sure that I F keyed it more than the one time, so I went back and tapped that thing silly. No change.
Here's a question. How do you KNOW you've picked up a key. Does it appear in the inventory? Because I don't recall ever seeing a key in my inventory. And I already had issues with that barkeep who supposedly has/had one of the keys. I don't recall any key being mentioned. Ditto Borov. I shot him dead, but don't recall picking up a key.

Press 'p' - look for quest 'Find documents in the undeground lab'.
There is a point - 'kill Borov and take his key', if it's checked - you have his key. I guess you just don't have it. To set pointer to him, double click the task, you'll see he or his corpse will be marked on the map and on the minimap.

You get the key from Borov when you search his body after killing him, but you don't see it in your inventory.

I think I found the problem. There is no mention in my Tasks, either "active", "completed", or "failed", about finding documents in the underground lab, or any mention of Borov. So I killed him before I was told to. And I was never given the task of finding the underground lab, though I thought I was.
So....do I need to do something over again in order to trigger one of these missions?

Thanks, but I think my problem lies elsewhere. At least now I know not to expect a key in my inventory.

You don't have to do something again I think. Now you need just to receive the quest from barkeep, talk to him and accept the quest.
For those who finished: this time for my surprise I almost instantly encountered elusive Poker in the bandit camp in Dark Valley as soon as I walked in there to get X18 key. Killed him of course. I wonder will this count when I'll be able to get quest to kill him later.
