one book can be found in Kogranac's study and it is just southwest of Dagoth Ur.
The other book can be found in the Kogranac's librarty or somethng of that sort and it is northeast of dagoth ur. They are both Dwemer ruins....not those purple colored ruins.
I found that after you have just completed the corprus mission, you can kill vivec and take the wraithguard, talk to the dwarf about it, get the books and the two papers from behind vivec, and then you get an activated wraithguard....but once you equip it it does a permenant 200 or so damage to your health, but you can complete the main quest in about 3 hours or so. Because all you need after getting the activated wraithguard is keening and sunder.
It would be cool to be able to get both, i dont even know how to complete the main quest the right way, because i have never tried, heh.

STUPID SOB OTHER WRAITHGUARD!!!!!!!!! I finally got the 2nd wraith guard, I looked at it and got all excited, put it on and immediatly saved. Then I looked at my health and the cap was 113 (Its around like 315 or something without it)I said hmm and took it off, The cap was still 113! I tried everything I could my health cap was 113. NNNOOOOOO! The stupid thing doesnt even match. It looks like a daedric glove with the red parts purple, I want to die! grrrr. Well my advie to all of you is dont waste your time It sux, and dont screw up your main quest thinking you can do it the other way dont it sux. Im a level 34 with the health of a level 10. $@^&$@^!

(The game doesn't take the "unique dwemer artifact" from Vivec when it gives you Wraithguard... and you can neither pickpocket nor KO and loot creatures [and Vivec is a creature, not an NPC])

Its permanent (Im on xbox if that makes a difference) I thought it would be normal damage eg drink potions and its back but its not, it literally to my health down for 300 something to 113. It health uses to say 313(or something) out of 313 health when im at full health now when Im at full health it says 113 out of 113, Ive tried resting taking it off It wont leave.

I was at level 67 when i did it, so loosing 200 points wasnt much of a big deal for me. So the other wraithguard looks different? and it is possible to get both? Im gonna have to try this out.
And on XBOX at least it IS PERMENANT....like i dont freakin know.

*wince* Ouch, sorry, all; I looked again and yeah, it is permanent (even on a PC). Man, that's nasty...

To answer you yeah you can get both and kill divyath for his pauldrons. Beat the game the right way, kill vivec, then take it and get the books to yagram bagrin and he'll do it.
EDIT: To answer your question below I must have spaced about diviath I meant to add something else. I thought I was screwed and the dwarf wouldnt do it because i killed diviath but he fixed me up with the other wraithguard anyway. Didnt mean to put that in I spaced out.
