Here is a Uk article about DX2:
(

On page 2 it confirms warrens ideologies of varied game play and alternatives solutions to problems. This dogma is shown in his idea of "players [being] able to progress through the entire game without drawing a weapon." Would you be willing to play the game like that the first time through, or atlest give it a valiant try?
Personally, i would like to see more concentration in the direction of non-shoot 'em up style of play. Not that i feel it's "degenerate" or "immoral", its just that the constant blood bathing often becomes dull and mundane, attenuating the its potential as a motive force in the plot or gaming experience. I relish the idea of slipping my way through the game minimizing fire arm type techniques - provided they are suffiviently various and entertaining. What do you think?
Question 2: Do you DXMP?

Someone claimed already they did, if I recall correctly.

It is possible to beat Deus Ex killing only Anna and Howard Strong, however it is a difficult task, and one with few rewards. Aside from a few dialogue changes, the plot stays exactly the same. What I'd like to see in DX2 is some sort of compensation for a player who's willing to play the game in such a drastically different way.

Many of the die hard Thief fans enjoy playing through missions without using weapons or even being seen, so I am sure that there are quite a number of people that would consider purchasing Deus Ex 2 if they discovered that they could ghost through it for the most part. There is no need for there to be a reward for not killing anyone. The challenge is its own reward. People that only play each game they purchase once or twice probably will never bother ghosting through it, but once you have played through it a dozen times or more, you start to look for anything that will make the game different. The more ways you can play the game the better. The original Deus Ex had a lot more stealth than most First Person Shooters, but didn't have as much as I would like. Being able to get through Deus Ex 2 without drawing a weapon (and without being shot at) would be a most welcome way to play. The main motivation for killing people in these games anyway is to get the ammo they carry, but if you are not using weapons you don't need the ammo.

I'm sure you are aware of the difficulty of such a task - it'd take Ion Storm years to implement this. IMO the expectations are too high.

Of course AIs should react to drawn weapons... I want to be able to holster them

I think it would be jolly good fun (Ah I've always wanted to use the word jolly on a thread) it would make the game more challenging and I would like to see more of the plot not revolve around blowing down the door with a lam and then gunning everyone in sight down. As much as I always enoughed getting everyone on the second floor of Versalife and then gepping it, that doesn't sound right... GEPping, hmmmmm.... sorry, I always tend to go of on tangents. Where was I? Aww screw it :grr:

Why would it be so difficult to reward players who play the game differently? A few extra lines of dialogue, perhaps some extra power-ups... Deus Ex is, after all, centered mainly on choices and realism.

would you do DX 2 w/o drawing a weapon?
Not the first time. My first play-through I'll be my old favorite, the Stealthy-Pistol-Ninja-Intrusion-Expert. After that I'll probably do Sniper-Demolitionist, and then maybe the pacifist way.
The first time I played through DX1 I replayed the final level three times to do the different endings. As I've read, DX2 will have four endings total, and I plan to play through the whole game four times before I see all the endings.
Here's me hoping there's a lot more options for demolitions this time around.
