You have no idea. The University of Toronto once got funding from the Feds to the tune of $18.2 million in order to study whether or not we were spending too much money on research grants.
LOL!

Now if only someone would come up with a plan for combatting the Birther epidemic.
p.s. how is a poly(technic?) different from a uni(versity)?

Why did my uni never do any research like that?
Because it was probably involved in some stupid, unimportant research like finding a cure for cancer or aids, or some dumb crap like that. :p

Polytechnics aren't universities. In the UK many old polys have become unis, but there is a degree of snobbery that pervades higher education/the upwardly mobile that makes some people poo-poo polys.
Jules: Did you hear about Winston-Canderberry? It's the most daaamnable tale. Quite the scandal, don't you know? Smithers-Johnston-Johnston-Smithe: One never expects much from these "graaaduates" of the old polytechnics, what. Gwaafaa! And so on.

Plus at least initially, the emphasis (perceived or otherwise) of polytechnics was 'practical' degrees, like management and business studies and stuff, whereas 'proper' universities were still doing all the old-school 'english literature' and 'classics' style degrees.
Lot less distinct now, though. Plus let's be honest, a degree from anywhere is largely worthless now anyway.

what on earth do you mean
Just messing with you for the spelling of zombie as zomibe. I thought you would remember when I quoted you last month in GenGaming without noticing you had spelled something incorrectly and it was stuck misspelled for posterity in my quote. You said something about it and I fixed it for you. My post was a reference to that deal.

Frightfully bad show, old bean.

Well, unless you absolutely require that particular degree to enter our chosen field of work.

I did remember - my response was a swift attempt at a cover-up because I fixed the title as soon as you pointed out the mistake here. :p

Cool, I thought you were being uncharacteristically (whew what a word!) snarky.

No worries, I should have put a ¬¬ in there really.
