Brazil 2-0 Costa Rica
Well, that was quite boring. Costa Rica made things hard for Brazil, but for some reason they seemed to be happy with 0-0. And of course Brazil had to ruin everything by scoring a late winner... which was somewhat deserved, I guess. Too bad that selfish Neymar got his goal at last, it was funny to watch him getting frustrated. :p And at least we still haven't had goalless games.
Nigeria 2-0 Iceland
Now this was a pretty good game. I would have loved it if both teams could have got three points from this, but to be fair, Nigeria were a class above today. Two great goals from Musa! The result will make things difficult for Iceland, but the last round will be really exciting in group D.

Serbia 1-2 Switzerland
Seemed like a pretty good match, but I guess that the tournament fatigue is kicking in again, as I couldn't really concentrate on the game. (Or maybe it was the beer - we're celebrating the midsummer over here today.) Two pretty even sides, Serbia looked more dangerous on the first half, but Switzerland took control on the second half. The last round in this group will be super exciting as well!

Belgium 5-2 Tunisia
Seven goals! And lots of near-goals for Belgium... Not the most exciting match, as Belgium were just so much better, but games like these are still pretty fun to watch. I'm actually starting to like this Belgium team, they've played some nice football so far, and they've hidden all their annoying characters somewhere. Let's see what happens when they face a better opponent than Panama or Tunisia.

I couldn't usually give a rats ass about football, or watching sports in general. Big fat waste of time on something so mindnumbingly dull. However, I live abroad now, and as any expatriot knows, you care much more about your home country in ways you never thought you would before you left.
Tonight, Sweden will hilariously lose against Germany again, through the usual ineptitude and incompetence, and for once, I'll actually watch the damn thing. Or at least, I'll have take-out food and beer with friends, and the TV will be on.
If by some miracle Sweden does not lose, that does not prove the existence of god, just that the Germans had another bad day.

South Korea 1-2 Mexico
Not a bad game. Mexico were the better team, but Koreans could have easily got a point if they hadn't been so frustratingly inefficient in attack.
Germany 2-1 Sweden
Oh my goodness. Germany had total control of the game on the second half - I think it might have been the most dominant performance that I've seen for a long time. The Germans created one chance after another and got a quick equaliser, but after that the Swedes somehow miraculously managed to keep their goal clean... until the 95th minute of the game. Even from a neutral point of view that late winner was a thing of beauty. A perfect shot from a very tight angle, on the last moment of the game, with a man down. Such a German moment, and surely the greatest drama that this tournament has provided yet. And just because of the insane second half, I think this was also the best game of this World Cup so far.

I was wrong. I predicted Germany would win 3-1. It was only 2-1. I was right about the Swedish ineptitude though.

Sweden are great, I'd be proud of them if I was you. :D If only they hadn't only tried to defend their 1-0 lead and then the 1-1 draw, they could have got something from the game. Germany were in a bit of a trouble at times on the first half when Sweden actually tried to play football and attack.

England 6-1 Panama
The first half was quite unpleasant to watch, it looked like England were playing against some pub team - Panama really looked that bad, and I was hoping that the referee would just end the game and send everyone home. Fortunately Panama's second half performance was a bit better, and they can fly back home next week with some of their dignity left. Their consolation goal at the end was the highlight of the match and they seemed quite happy about it... I think that says it all.
Senegal 2-2 Japan
Excellent game. I was really hoping that Senegal would win, but Japan looked strong on the second half and deserved that point. In ideal world both teams would qualify for the next round, but I really like this Senegal team. Their fans are great too. :D

Poland 0-3 Colombia
Very impressive display from Colombia. If they play like this next week, they'll tear Senegal in pieces... Robert Lewandowski has somehow managed to turn into one of the most obnoxious players in football, so I'm kind of glad that he'll be packing his bags soon as well. Nice to see good old Carlos Valderrama in the crowd. :D
