It's just boring to watch them play ("unbelievably" and "cargogenic" may be a slight exaggeration tho as I wrote that in the heat of the moment and entertained myself writing that whole thing. Only the spaniard team has earned that description throughout the decade or more. Those guys really try-harded to kill football itself).
The hold the ball for like 70-80% of the game and pass it around. This is also in snyc with my memories from seeing them 4 years ago. They always just played a long, boring to spectate game with everyone and then usually Messi scored 1 goal near the end (or start sometimes). Well, that finally (and rightfully so) played against them in the finale at least. They also don't really have any interesting players. Messi seems more like a sad sack than a superstar.
I remember in the last Cup I went in feeling neutral (maybe even a little favorably) about Argentina as I hadn't noticed them much before. But then game after game they slowly put me to sleep each time (I think I enjoyed 1 long-shot goal by Messi though). Well, not literal sleep as little in the world can do that, but close.
So why do you folks like Argentina's team?
Very bad structure in my speech this morning, bleh.

Heh, I think we've got a Ronaldo super-fan here. :p He's a top player for sure, but he acts like such a primadonna sometimes that I find it hard to really like him. At least he has finally realised that he can be good without resorting to cheating, so he's nowhere as annoying as he used to be.

* Morocco VS Ireland I was absolutely uninvested in
Seems so, as it was Iran who they were playing against. ;)

Good question! For me (and probably many others) it's all about nostalgia - I just decided to "support" them as a little kid for some reason, and I've liked them ever since. Normally they're pretty entertaining to watch too, although you're right that they were a bit disappointing in the last world cup. And you just can't deny that Messi is just as good as Ronaldo, even if he doesn't hold a
"hey look everyone! I'm a star!" sign over his head all the time. :p

Ahaha, Yep! :p I pretty much converted into a Ronaldo fanboi during the last European Cup. I was apathetic at best toward them (Portugal) when they first started that tournament (a little below neutral I would say). But their gradual rise to glory was just a joy to watch. And yeah, I didn't really follow him back in the day and he seemed like a primadonna indeed. I like him for who he has grown to be now.
Woops, I know it was Ireland but I mistook it for Iran. There, I did it again. There's no convincing anybody now, is there? :( (But really, I even remember being into Ireland's team and fans 2 years ago.)
Look, I even took the fifa 2018 spreadsheet template and (

If it turns out to be at all correct I want my millions in BTC or Dogecoin.

Costa Rica 0-1 Serbia
First game that I didn't see at all, but I watched the highlights afterwards. I don't think I missed anything... Shame about the result, but it seems that Serbia really deserved all three points. Nice free kick goal by Kolarov!
Germany 0-1 Mexico
Not really such a big surprise, but I bet that not many people expected Germany to lose. Mexicans started off better and deserved to take the lead. Germans got back into the game after that and controlled the ball for the rest of the game, but Mexico still managed to create way too many dangerous (half-)chances from counter-attacks. It's not looking good for Germany when their attack seems ineffective and defense is so fragile, but I have a feeling that they'll still go through to the knockout stage. Mexico defended well and the keeper Ochoa had a good game as well. Deserved win I'd say.

Brazil 1-1 Switzerland
Nice goal by Coutinho. Brazil were too content to just defend their 1-0 lead and that cost them two points today. Switzerland defended well, had one good chance during the game, but they took it. Brazilians put a lot of pressure on Switzerland towards the end, but they ran out of time. Neymar was often too selfish. And what's up with that silly cauliflower haircut?

Sweden 1-0 South Korea
The worst game of the tournament so far. There were little fouls that stopped the game all the time. Swedes complained about every decision that went against them, which was super annoying. Yet another video replay penalty goal. Sweden were the better team, South Korea looked quite poor.

Belgium 3-0 Panama
I was hoping that Panama could surprise, but even though they weren't exactly pushovers, Belgium were just too good today. Fairly entertaining second half and three nice goals from Belgium.

Tunisia 1-2 England
Decent game. Shame about the late winner, I can't see Panama or Tunisia qualifying from this group now. Tunisia turned ultra-defensive after their equaliser, and England had a hard time breaking through, but they eventually succeeded on the last minute. Felt like a cruel ending, but it's a fair result I guess. This must be the least annoying/the most likable England team for decades!

A good win for England and as you say Toml a likeable team and manager. Should have won it by 3 or even 4 goals though. A lot of missed chances in the first 20 minutes.
