Brazil 1-2 Belgium
This is why I love football. :D What a great game! Another match of the tournament contender for sure. Belgium's quick counter-attacks were a joy to watch and they took a deserved 0-2 lead on the first half. But what really pleased me was that they didn't go all defensive like all other teams would have done, it looked like they still wanted more goals. I guess they finally ran out of steam on the second half, and the last half an hour was all Brazil when they scored their goal. It was nice to see Brazil play some nice football for a change, and if Courtois hadn't played such a fantastic game on the Belgian goal, Brazil could have won this. Watching Neymar was even more frustrating as usual; seeing three obvious dives inside the penalty area made me lose the last crumbles of respect that I had for him, and I hope that this World Cup cemented his place as the most hated player in the game. I just can't believe that the referees these days don't have the balls to book players for diving. His unsportsmanlike antics diminished the game a bit, but at least it made the joy at the full time whistle even greater.
France vs Belgium should be interesting!

What game were you watching? The game that they showed on my TV had two equal sides fighting for victory, but the better team won in the end. :p I even wanted Japan to win more (not that I had anything against Belgium either) so I really can't see how it could have been the most undeserved win ever.
I see. It's unfair and undeserved whenever your favourites lose. Your Cristiano had a terrible game and since the Portuguese tactics depended on playing through CRonaldo, he kind of dragged his team to defeat.
Na, Japan played better, belgians are just lucky. Incidentally as was demonstrated again in today's football. Portugal didn't have a very good last game. Uruguay was the last hope for a decent finale opponent. So - now the opponent to the hopeful branch is confirmed for shit. Not a good day for football.
Glad to see another fanboy for the hipster team, I guess. I can see why hipsters like them, just not my cup of tea. I think I even prefer European Africa over them.
Will it really happen that I root for Putin during the finale of a world cup.

Uruguay looked lost without Cavani, and as bravely as they fought today, even you can't say that they deserved to win against France.
And I wouldn't say that Belgium were particularly lucky against Brazil either, even if Brazil probably (I haven't checked the stats) had more shots on target. Courtois simply had a great game, but it's not like Belgium did not have their fair share of good chances too. Perhaps if some certain Brazilians had stayed on their feet instead of going down and rolling on the ground whenever possible, they could have got a goal from one of these chances... Luckily the referee had a great game (apart from not showing Neymar some sort of a card) too!

Sweden 1-0 Switzerland Couldn't watch this game earlier today, but I'm waiting for Gray's match report. :p
I did watch it, but it was mostly some guys in different coloured shirts kick a ball around a bit. At some point there was a lot of shouting. Some of them seemed happy.
So yeah, not terribly exciting, but this presents me with a moderately interesting dilemma: tomorrow, England are playing Sweden. I live in Glasgow. If I go to a pub to see the game, will the locals all root for England, because they're British, or for Sweden (or whatever other country is facing them), because they're... well, NOT English..? Better play it safe and not bring my Swedish flag, just in case England somehow magically chokes.

Maybe you could cook up a Swenglish flag and either please everyone or be universally reviled. Or both.

From what I've understood, there's no such thing as being British in football... The Scots and the Welsh at least "hate" (you may even take out the quotes as the rivalry doesn't always seem that friendly) England, and vice versa. I think it would be much safer for you to wave a massive Swedish flag around Glasgow, than to wear an England scarf under your coat. So if someone in your pub is supporting England, they're probably English... and everyone else is most likely Swedish for a day.
I wish Sweden the very best of luck for today and I hope that you guys win (I don't think that it's very likely though, and I may have just cursed you!... But anything can happen in this World Cup!), although I must say that the England team is also fairly likable this year!

There is a strong British identity amongst Rangers fans in Glasgow, so if you were to watch the game in a Rangers pub, you could expect lots of support for England.

Sweden 0-2 England
Not a very good match, but I wasn't expecting much from it either. Yesterday's Red vs Yellow game was about seventeen and a half times better than this. A deserved win from England I guess - Sweden might have had a chance if they had had a decent striker. Pickford made a couple of good saves. The Swedes didn't wave their hands too much today, fair play to them. That repetitive horn tune that the England fans (I think) have played throughout the tournament is getting really annoying, I can't get it out of my head now. It's worse than vuvuzelas.

Don't care about the quality of the match but the final result is AMAZING!!!
