Broken rules and muddied names.
Let me just first say that I havent been the best at following rules and being honest in my life, but i turned a new leaf and got that sort of thing behind me.
My problem is this...
I work at a private resort/club with about 750-1,000 employees. About 400 of these employees are seasonal, and of those 400, about 300 are foreign, being mostly from brazil. These people have the the absolute biggest disreguard for the rules of our workplace.
We are a very private club. Our memberships cost around 200k a year +, in addition to the 200k, you have to own a property, which is around 2 million. So just to be a member, you are looking at at least 2,200,000 just to get in. If you are not a member or a guest of a member you do not enter the clubs grounds. 98% of our club is obviously off-limits to employees.
One of those locations is the beach, where I work. 2 days ago, a truck load of brazilian emoployees, male and female, decided to come to the beach. It was an extremely busy day, which makes it worse. To top that off, most of them are wearing thongs and bikinis, yes the guys too. Since so many kids are on this beach everyday, such things are banned, and reasonably so, especially from our employees. I wander over and tell them that they need to leave. After being bitched at for a minute, I called managment and had them kicked off. since this, they all have commenced talking about it like im some sort of beach nazi, making it out like i gassed em for being out there. Not only has my car been egged and toilet papered, but my door has been shaving creamed and my computer work computer stolen, all within 1.5 days.
Ive talked to managment and public saftey in addition to hr, which basically told me they cant do anything.... so any advice out there? i dont know what to do.
cliff notes: employees broke rules on my beach, now being molested everyday for saying something.

You left out the part where you filed police reports for vandalism and theft, right?
Right?

I think if a private resort / club / thing is THAT exclusive, there's no way in hell they want the employees in any of the member areas -- certainly not Enthonged, if that's explicitly against the rules for guests as well. Cruise ships aren't even that fanatical about Who Gets To Go On One, and yet other than actual Passenger Interacting Guys like activity co-ordinators etc the crew isn't even -- technically -- allowed on the same deck areas as the paying guests, never mind being in their pools and saunas and such.
That said, unless it was your ass in the fire if anyone complained about employees on the beach -- which, I don't know, maybe the whole beach staff is responsible for all that stuff -- then you probably didn't do much good by confronting them about their thongs and such.
If it were me in management, I'd seriously have to wonder if I wanted to employ people who couldn't follow the rules of the place -- especially since it WOULD be my ass in the fire if one of the members complained about it. Hopefully management doesn't think you're a dick for telling on the Thonged Ones.
But that's not what you asked. You asked what you can do about them harassing you and egging your voiture and shit. Simply put, unless your employers are going to do anything, there's probably nothing you can do that won't get you fired or beat up by a truckload of scantily-clad Brazilians.
I'm assuming "a truckload" is a dozen or so... I can't see the club firing a dozen people for that kind of thing, but like I say if it were ME who would be taking the heat from disgruntled members, I would. They're certainly lucky it was you that said something to them and not a member stamping off to the managers in a temper. Gay it may be to care about these things, but I think when you're forking over that kind of coin you've paid for the right to be a little temperamental like that if you want.
I guess I'm not very much help at all :D
Seriously, the most I think you can do is remember / take notes of all the more-than-trivial shit they do (egging your car counts, so does shaving-creaming the door and taking your computer -- calling you names doesn't really cut it unless it's just constant and fucking up your overall environment) and complain to your manager every time you've got a new list of things.
But chances are they'll stop soon and be content to call you rude things behind your back for the rest of their lives.

i guess i really shouldnt worry about it, these seasonal people disappear in a month... i guess i was just off the hinge pissed about it. My beach staff gets in a huge ammount of trouble for employees on the beach. I just dont understand why no one in managment will help. Like you said GBM, they cant fire a "truck load"(it was about 14 of em). I dont think i would of cared about the thongs and such if they werent so overweight.:eww: but reguardless my off work life sucks cause i did my job. but thanks. I guess im boned.

Find out where they live and molotov their homes. Wear gloves when you make/throw the stuff, too.

Ok, sorry if I'm missing something totally obvious...but if the employees are not allowed in 98% of the club, then A. How do they maintain those areas, and B. Just what do they do in the 2% they can go in?
Also, what exactly does this club offer that makes it worth 200K a year? Celebrity prostitutes?
Gingerbread Man on 14/3/2006 at 06:12
They're not allowed in unless they're working in that area at the time, you dong. Or, I suppose, moving through that area to get to another area. Point is that employees at places like this are absolutely not to use the facilities and whatnot as if they were members. That's pretty standard in resorts, hotels, yacht clubs, golf clubs, cruise ships, you name it.
You can't get a job as a busboy in a five-star hotel's dining room and then expect that you're allowed to sit at one of the tables during your lunch break. It's not a camp. You can't just come in on your days off and use the tennis courts.
And anyway, the objectionable behaviour in the original case was that they were dressed in a way that was unacceptable by club standards -- even for the paying members and their guests.
(Are we talking about the Ocean Reef Club here?)
