Tried, didn't succeed. Once I started wading through the 40 pages of Lovecraft talking about eldritch architecture, I lost interest/time/consciousness. This was in high school.
I will try again though. Also, by "overlong" I meant mostly in comparison to my favorite Lovecraft stories. Namely the Music of Erich Zann and Pickman's Model.
