I remember that "The Call of Cthulhu" RPG from Chaosium had a nice wordlist of the most typically Lovecraftian words, but I can't find a version of it online. Nevertheless, I found this and it made me grin like an idiot a couple of times: (http://www.cthulhucoffee.com/lovecraftdrink.html)

He mentions the word "abyss" in many of his stories, along with others like "gulf", "antediluvian", "charnel", and many of the ones listed above (I think one of my favorites of his is "cacodaemoniacal ghastliness" from "The Hound").

I actually like the fact that he uses many of the same words over and over again. In some ways it unites all his stories and gives him consistency.
