Wonderful little freeware OS... - by Haegan

Well, maybe 'Wonderful' is too strong a word, BUT, it was interesting enough to make it onto my hard drive. (I booted it from the disk before performing the neccessary partitioning of the tangled lump I call 'E:/')
download it <a href=http://minix3.org>here</a>
It's called 'Minix' and I thought it was a nice cosy little OS, that I might get round to using at some unspecified point in the future...

* If you find it wonderful, you may be interested in Tanenbaum's books such as Modern Operating Systems (before going to more advanced stuff). Minix was developed by him as a teaching tool and still remains so to this day (also, linux was developed on and based on Minix).
* While MenuetOS seems amazing at first, the fact that it's 100% x86 assembly makes it more of a masturbatory game than a real Operating System. Still, it could have interesting applications.

Re-read Malygris' post. Check henke's location. Repeat until you get the joke.

Just out of interest, what opperating systems do people prefer to use here? My (current) favorite is Linspire. (formerly 'Lindows' Before Microsoft extended their iron fist.) In fact, most forms of Linux are OK, (apart from 'Red Hat' YUK!)

I actually felt that he got the joke and was trying to 'add' to it, but I COULD be hideously incorrect
