Wingsuit base jumping

Look up (http://edition.cnn.com/video/#/video/tech/2007/12/14/intv.jeb.corliss.flying.suit.cnn) Jeb Corliss. It looks like he's going to jail soon, but he's been working on making it possible to land in a wingsuit without a parachute. Lots of YouTube movies, but I couldn't find any that show his most recent progress with building a huge landing slide.

Yeah I just saw a film that featured Jeb at the Banff Film Festival, it was one of the most spectacular pieces of film I have ever seen. It was called "Journey to the Centre", and was about Jeb and two other BASE jumpers who go out to the middle of China to jump into this epic cave mouth. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9BdZo39imyo) Here's a trailer, which is pretty bad as far as trailers go, but at least gives you some idea of how epic the jump was. Anyone who is interested in this kind of thing really should try and track down a copy of the film.

So what happens to the skis? They just discard them after every jump? What a waste:(

Patrick de Gayardon jumped into a cave in Mexico at the (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2Ccow7o-xE) Sótano de las Golondrinas, among many other stunts.
He's the guy who invented the wingsuits the guys in the OP are using, actually. He jumped out of the plane, flew a bit, and went back in.

I've just seen the film "Tomb Raider - Cradle of Life" on BBC 3. Heroine and sidekick jump off the roof of a skyscraper using wingsuits to escape the baddies. How's that for coincidence?

That's the first time I saw anyone ever use a wingsuit, too. In the 'Special Features' part of the disc they went into detail about the two guys who stunt doubled for Jolie & Butler. Pretty impressive.
