Evening
After pulling my hair out trawling through pages and pages of google results.... I found a fix for this most hanous and eVil of bugs with windows Xp/Vista and internet explorer 7.... :sly:
* If like me you have a Pc running windows and share setup on said pc on your home network.
* If like me you also have IE7 installed on a pc that has accesses said share via a mapped drive or same such
* And if like me you have gotten quite aggrivated when you right-click on a zip file and get the "This page has an unspecified security risk" pop-up...
I have found several fixes, as only 1 worked for me.
First solution:1. Go to Control Panel > Internet Options
2. Select Security tab
3. Select Local intranet and click Sites button
4. UNCHECK Automatically detect intranet network and CHECK all 3 options below.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\1\180D
2.The value for this key should be set to 0 (zero) by default.
Fourth solution:1.Open Regedit and navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_USER\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl
2. If the above keys dont exist, create them (I had to create "Internet Explorer" inside Microsoft then "Main" inside internet explorer then "FeatureControl" etc.
3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.
4. Type FEATURE_RESPECT_ZONEMAP_FOR_MAPPED_DRIVES_KB929798 to name the new subkey, and then press ENTER.
5. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
6. Type * to name the new entry, and then press ENTER.
7. On the Edit menu, click Modify.
8. Type 1, and then click OK.
9. Repeat step 3 through step 8 for the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl
10. Exit Registry Editor.
Fifth solution: -
this is an extreme solution and breaks IE7's security settings1.Open Regedit and navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\4\1806
HKEY_CURRENT_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\4\1806
2.Change this value to 0, which is normally 4 - this causes IE7 to complain that its security settings are Fubard and need fixing each time its opened.
But like most of you I use Firefox to browse the net so I dont see it as a problem. :ebil:
