This is the media that pretends Bill Gates is a criminal while Steve Jobs is not. If it could affect OS X, we'd sure never hear about it.

Does the Vista logo look like a guy "assuming the position" to anyone else, or is it just me?
OLOL MICRO$MONEY is out SHAFTING THE CONSUMER again! This time they're so blatant about it, they made the Vista logo a symbolic representation of a consumer about to get SHAFTED! IN THE BUTT!
Sigh....Windows users.

Windows XP never crashes, for me at least.
You probably don't fool around with your computer as much as you should then. :p

The only benefit I see right now is Direct X 10, but that could be ported to XP couldn't it?
No. DirectX 10 is a completely new DirectX, and, along with Direct X 9.0Ex, has been built for use with the new Windows Display Model (WDM). Porting
either of these DirectX versions to Windows XP would require a kernel overhall...
...which would make XP into Vista. :p

Also does Vista delete your illegal music or movie files?
No.

And I also agree that the new IE7 is horrible, I prefer not having to search through menus to find simple buttons.
IE is terrible. Don't use it. And don't let anyone tell you that you have to use it either. You don't.
Download FireFox 2.0
Install IE7
Download the (
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1419/) IE Tabs plug-in for FireFox
Never use IE again
I don't know where everyone is coming from with all this Vista hatred. Vista is, in my opinion, the best operating system that Microsoft has yet come out with. Sure, the imbedded DRM is a bother, but, as always, if you don't want to get around it, it won't bother you, and if you do want to get around it...
...well let's just say people haven't been stopping getting around DRM yet...and HDCP/Blu-Ray/HD-DVD has already been cracked. I read about these things on SlashDot.
The operating system looks great, has great new features (like the re-vamped networking stack and new search), and features inspired upgrades such as DX10 and WPF. I haven't had an excessive number of compatibility problems, and while UAC may be idiotic, it's there for your protection, and
YOU CAN TURN IT OFF. I'm so sick of people complaining about how awful UAC is. It's easy to turn off, just like all the other "nags" (Windows Security Center, anyone?) in Vista are. They're there in case you don't know what you're doing, so you can't bullocks things up as easily as you could in XP. If you know what you're doing, you'll be able to turn them off and they won't bother you...it's really that simple.
In conclusion, long live Vista, and I really hope Logitech and LinkSys get their act together and release all their Vista drivers soon.

That's actually (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aphex_Twin) Aphex Twin's symbol, I even stuck a picture of him in the corner there. I slapped the line about torrent-ing in there (because everyone's just dying to pirate Vista, right) and it just got even more random.
I slapped Richard's picture in the corner and replaced the Windows symbol with the Aphex symbol as even more ridiculous measure.
I could have probably gone with a simpler joke; recycling Aphex's own gimmick for example...

Oh, and I know I suck at shopping, so no need to call attention to "teh" pixels.

Getting severe 98 -> XP vibes from this whole Vista issue.
What you don't know is that you suck at posting, which does need to be called attention to.

I'm actually painfully aware of my incompetence.
The lashings I get for it are totally worth it though; they make me feel like I actually have some hope of improvement.
You know how that feels, right? Naw.
Kisses in any case, dear.

The whole reason some of us come to TTLG is to be incompetent posters - it keeps the ego in check. In the land of high school/community college, I can talk circles around a lot of folk, but here I'm just one of the lesser-skilled debaters. And that's cool.

Also, found this little tidbit from the guy who writes TweakGuides:
"Yes, I'm still working hard to complete the TweakGuides Tweaking Companion for Vista. It's now taking up most of my day, every single day, so it's no picnic. I still can't say exactly when it will be out, possibly in the coming week, maybe February 14 at the latest. Just explaining all of Vista's new features accurately is a huge chore, much less formulating good recommendations and adding a suite of tips and tweaks. I wish the people who are saying Vista is just XP with a few changes were right, but a lot has changed. So much so that I estimate over 75% of the 175+ pages of TGTC text has had to be completely rewritten."
So, for better or worse, sounds like a lot more has changed in Vista than most people think.

I have TOO MUCH RAM for Vista. Seriously.
I have 3GB of RAM and I couldn't get my Wireless adapter to work and would get the occasional bluescreen referencing USBPORT.SYS.
After a bit of Googling I found an article relating to bluescreens when resuming from sleep or hibernation referencing that file with more than 2GB, so I took a GB out and BAM, it started working fine.
Not a big enough :wtf: for that
Aerothorn on 4/2/2007 at 19:12
If you need someone to take that RAM off your hands, I'm you're man:)
