Haha, Vista was released to manufacturers in November of 2006.
I think so chaps.

Hell, it was even released to businesses in 2006.

In the last few days I've had a bit of a change of heart about Vista. I
might consider upgrading nearer the end of this year (apparently a Service Pack is rumoured for Q4).
That's awesome, "REBEL AGAINST YOUR MASTER"

This blows. I'm going to try and stick with what I've got already, but I know I'll be hung out to dry eventually, so basically I'm fucked. Maybe Ubuntu isn't such a bad idea after all.

I know, I know. I just got a quiet chuckle out of it. Mind you, aversion with all of the missed shipping dates crossed out would be nicer.

I tried it on my secondary computer. The long term goal was to get away from Microsoft and get some foothold in the linux world. After a few weeks I was ripe for MS again. The reason was simply that whatever they had promised about Ubuntu being accessible and user friendly only worked as long as you swallowed what you were fed. Which is ironically what they constantly accuse MS of.
But dare to ask for such simple things as a resolution that goes beyond 1024x768 or an MP3 player and you will know what it must feel like to bring porn into a monastery. Such basic wishes although apparently asked by hundreds upon hundreds of switchers still earn you a raised eyebrow paired with a condescending remark and a link to a MS hate thread wherey you may or maynot find some codelines that you enter at the terminal hoping for the best.
So there goes userfriendly. Nice color scheme though!!!

Nor are you attempting to disprove the validity of his point, apparently.

I do wish some of the more whiny Windows-haters-but-users would switch to Linux.
I'd say the same for Macs, except that I honestly believe that Apple is a more 'evil' company than Microsoft - its behaivor with iPods has been arguably worse that Microsoft's with Windows, and Microsoft at least was never preachy about they were The Great Good and Apple was The Great Satan or something. So I'd really like them to not get more of a foothold. Though in some ways, they deserve it - OS X is theoretically pretty sweet. I say theoretically because I have to use it at school, and (like Kolya said about ubuntu) it seems to work well as long as you don't want it to do anything outside of its design specifications. Maybe this is just the school computer? All I know is it crashes more than my home Windows computer.

It's just your school computer.
And the difference with iPods is that there are still thousands of competing products to realistically choose from.
