They're all just a bunch of money hungry wh*res that only care about their money and not what the people want. Yup just kill off the good OS to bring in a crappy OS  I hate all this modernised touch screen bullsh*t! Keep the touch screen crap for tablets and keep it away from computers because the only thing touch screens are good for is tablets :tsktsk:

Seconded

Actually the only thing touch screens are good for is consuming shit and spending lots of money in many mini transactions, reducing the users' interaction skill to that a of a four year old with sticky fingers and therefore cutting out their ability to produce content themselves and engage in any meaningful ways. Of course MS wants to get on that train. But the truth is that people still have PCs and laptops because you can just do more with a keyboard and a mouse, you have more control. And that's what anyone wants who hasn't been turned into a complete consumer zombie yet. Or if one simply has work to do.

On phones and tablets it's completely fine. Just not on desktops + laptops.

I have to agree on the whole touchscreen thing. My OCD would kick into overdrive if my monitor was perpetually covered in fingerprints. Not to mention the havoc my cats could wreak as they paw at the screen; they're already capable of opening programs I never knew I had just by lying/walking on my keyboard.

MS wants to do what they've always wanted to do with tablet PCs, which is quite a bit different than Apple's or Google's implementation, because it considers this as a major component:

I have a tablet and let me tell you how annoying it is when you use a touch screen  Imagine just how ridiculous it'd be if it was like that for all computers :wot: Also why would a computer need apps? Aren't those for mobile devices. Geez it seems like their trying to turn everything that's good into worthless crap nowadays. My generation is screwed :nono:

Given that "app" is merely a shorthand for application, I'd say that a computer needs those to be truly useful for the large majority of users.
The interface of an application is up to the UI designer and can be made to work with touch and/or mouse+keyboard.

I'm fairly sure he doesn't mean "app" in such a general context. I have no personal experience with their use, but from what I gather app is basically a buzzword for applications where distribution and usage are much more abstracted than what we PC users have been used to for years and years where pretty much anything goes; you could get an installer that does everything for you or you could download an archive that requires fully manual installation and setup (my preferred method).
