It depends. Some DLC's are as good or better than the original game. Dawnguard and Dragonborn in Skyrim are masterpieces in my opinion. I actually preferred the main Dragonborn quest to the one in the original game.

Bethesda's DLC starting with Fallout 3 has been pretty good. Point Lookout is by far one of my favourite DLCs of any game -- I love the setting so much you have no idea. And New Vegas' Honest Hearts is so beautiful, and the story is so bittersweet, I could cry.

I'll do what I do with any game I am pretty sure will be a huge disappointment. Wait until the 80-90% off steam sale in a few years and see if it's a let down or not.

Oh the poor poor publishers selling games on digital platforms at 50$ with none of the costs of physical retail. My heart bleeds for them.
However, a game with every speck of dust individually modeled takes a lot more time and money to develop than a game with a maximum of 1024 polygons on screen. Yet paying more for a more expensive game is absolutely out of the question for consumers almost without exception. If Thief 1 would be remade exactly how it is, except with modern level of graphical detail, it would be a 200$ game, and considering the quality of modern 50$ games in comparison, that remake of Thief would actually be worth that 200$. But because you can't make a great game and actually price it accordingly, that's why there are no great games anymore. Nobody wants to pay for quality. Everyone wants the Ferrari, and everyone insists on paying the same as they would for a Fiat. And then tens of millions of Ferraris with Fiat engines get sold, and the retailer still talks about disappointing sales.

In somewhat related news, there are supposed to be a whole bunch of new previews for Thief released tomorrow, both in print and digitally, including some new gameplay footage. Might swing people in one direction or another. Almost exactly on month to go now - get ready for the chaos.

Your commentary is so thoughtful and deep that I can't even see you anymore. How can anyone defend their arguments against such thorough single-word refutations?
Hmm... maybe using equally short counter arguments with equal validity. Let's give it a try:

There's nothing to refute. Your entire argument is based on what I presume to be dogs barking in your head. I don't have to argue against it because the reality is the opposite of what you said.
