The most people of this poll chose "I'll nnot buy this game at all". Hmmm...I wonder how many of you just showing off. I guess there are few who wouldn't buy it even if it turned to be a great game. Torrents are cheaper, aren't they?

I would buy it if there was a demo and I was impressed by it. But with no demo it's going to take alot more convincing to buy. Sigh. I miss the good ole days when games had demos . . . before release no less.

I pretty much hate the whole idea of DLC in general (especially when most DLC that I've played has been bad), so don't think that I'm defending it... But who are we to judge what games should be worth and what they should include? Of course, if you're not happy with the price that they've set, then you can and
should vote with your wallet and not buy the game. Or wait a few months until the inevitable Game of the Year edition (or something similar) comes out, and you can get the game with all the DLC for ten dollars. That's one thing that I don't understand about game pricing these days, why do people even bother paying the full price when you get massive discounts only a few months after the release? (Not that I'm complaining!)
Speaking of the expansion packs and stuff in the "good old days", how can we know for sure that the game developers back then hadn't already finished the expansions in time for the release? :p Ever since the beginning of the "gaming industry" and whenever there's lots of money involved, there has always been some "dirty" business tricks as well, I'm sure. They did sell speech packs (etc) that always felt like rip-offs to me, and the expansions often seemed like second class content that was quickly thrown together that didn't really offer anything new, yet they still cost (almost) as much as full games do nowadays. (And before you start digging up some examples, of course there are a lot of exceptions.) As much as I love to wallow in nostalgia, and often foolishly believe that everything was better back in the good old days, I feel that this is closer to the truth about the DLC timeline:

http://i1165.photobucket.com/albums/q590/Tomiboo/DLC_zpsd2f4b6a9.jpgHow do you feel about Kickstarter projects? Do you find it unfair that people who pledge 20 dollars don't get the same treatment as those who pledge 1000 dollars and get some extra stuff that you don't?
Looks like the DLC trend is here to stay, so I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and accept it. And as long as the exclusive pre-order bonuses are something as small and insignificant as this Bank Heist mission in Thief, I don't really have a big problem with that either. It sucks, but you can't always have everything. But luckily you're not forced to buy anything either.
Oh, and I'm still not going to pre-order Thief. :p I may wait for the Steam summer sales (if I have time to play games during the summer), or try to get myself a physical copy some time later.

I understand not pre-ordering games: I almost did a terrible mistake few months ago. Remember Aliens:Colonial Marines?...That's right. Thank god I didn't buy this shit. And I'm a huge Aliens universe fan. There are many traps for us players.

EM has alienated me and other fans to the point where I definitely will not buy it. I'm not interested in supporting them in any way after everything they've done. That being said, if down the line I find it in a bargain bin for $5, I might get it. But even then, and even if it turns out to be amazing as a non-Thief game, my excitement is dead.
Nuth on 19/1/2014 at 21:09
I'm not buying it because I wouldn't like playing it. For me, what EM has done to Thief is the biggest disappointment in my 40 years of video/computer gaming. Playing nuThief would just be a reminder to me of what the game should have been, and that wouldn't be enjoyable for me.
That said, I hope the game sells well, and that lots of taffers have great fun with it.

@dethy: after Tomb Raider I just don't want to encourage them.
Too late. Reboots and remakes are a popular attempt to drag up old franchises and make them new again. Whether that actually works or not tends to vary wildly. The Castlevania: Lords of Shadow series seems to have done well, and GTA4 did away with the PS2-era GTAs' continuity.
Did you not like Tomb Raider? I heard it was pretty good, though I haven't played because I don't care.
Also, Starker, take your meds.

For the record, of course for Thief TDP they later released 3 missions meant to be in the original exactly like the "now" photo, effectively like DLC, and priced as a full other game called "Gold". Granted it was still a simpler time then though.

"We are Frothgang! We are many!" :sly:
I will not buy this game - not necessarily because I hate everything about it (I'm not that "frothgangy" (yes, I can use that as an adjective :p )), but because both my time and budget is limited and I have already invested in other things that I care more about. Thief 4 might actually be an okay game, but I, like Azaran, just don't care about it anymore and I get the feeling that it will just be a game among other games and, as such, pretty forgettable.
