Besides, I'm too busy waiting for Half-Life 3 and Stalker 2.
...I'll get you some crackers and a comfy chair. :P
Me? I'll probably just buy it around the time it comes out. I'm interested, but not overly stoked about the game, so I'll probably wait for the RPS write up to see what they say, and grab it then.

Man, T4 takes a huge beating ITT.
Hell yes, I'll be pre-ordering. Good, bad or ugly, I want to try the game out first hand and as soon as it's out. And with the GMG discount, it can be had for about 33 bucks. That's like a night out at the bars.
The rest of you have fun with your extreme skepticism and idealism. Do you really think reading reviews will tell you if the game is good or not? That strategy is dead to me forever after Bioshock Infinite.

Where have you been? This entire subforum is basically T4 hate.

Ah, thanks for that Brethren. Looks like I might be alright after all, although I still need to upgrade to Win7 at some point when I can be bothered. :erg:
And yeah, I pay no attention at all to game reviews these days either. They can be fun to read sometimes, but I don't find them very reliable. However, opinions from other fans (especially here on TTLG) can be helpful, although you still need to ignore the frothgang and their biased silliness.

I'm sure henke might be capable of it.
I certainly have considered it! After all this time I'm just so interested how it will turn out that I'd want to play it for myself as soon as possible whether it's good or bad.
Then again, I've only ever preordered 2 games: DXHR and GTA V. So it's not something I do lightly.

Everybody has their blind spots. Even you with Mafia. ;)

Haha, I knew this would come back to haunt me sooner or later! :D I may have been biased there indeed, but Mafia is still one of my all-time favourite games, it's like watching/playing a great gangster movie (that admittedly uses all the old mafia cliches) and I even loved the action bits and the unforgiving (or unfair, you say) difficulty that you seemed to dislike. I do understand that it may not be for everyone though, but let's not go there again... You normally seem to have a pretty good taste in games, so you're forgiven. :p Did you ever give Mafia 2 a spin, by the way?
Oh, and I was reading about the Mafia creators' upcoming medieval RPG (I can't remember what it's called and where I saw it) not too long ago, and I checked out some of the readers' comments at the end. I scrolled down and most of the comments were fairly positive, but in the middle of it all I saw that someone was bashing the story direction in Mafia 1, and it reminded me of our little argument. Then I looked at the name next to the comment and started laughing... dethtoll :D

Just my thoughts, but better put into words :)

I used to preorder games all the time during the PS1 glory days, and that was long before preordering for bonuses became a thing. You paid for games before they were out to both guarantee you a copy, and because you were an overexcited nerd.
These days? If I'm planning on getting a game anyway, I'll prebuy off Steam a couple days before release if it's got a discount bonus, but that's a rare thing. Truth be told, I'll probably end up doing this with NuThief.
...though last week, I did have a relapse. I walked into a Gamestop, and actually paid money for a copy of Dark Souls 2 for the PS3. I haven't done that in YEARS, and let me tell you, it was kind of nostalgically fun. I was actually pretty tempted to plunk down $110 for the collectors edition for a second there...

Listen man, youve gotta ask yourself why you come to certain places. Seriously, TTLG is the original home of Thief fanatics. This is where we came together, and it has been quite a ride, eh? You werent here for the early stuff, but at least you get Deadly Shadow. Considering what we have been shown so far about this new Thief game, as old school Thief fans, how do you expect us to react? One by one, they have controversially discarded key elements of Thief, leaving behind mediocre mechanics that anyone can see through. People are pulling any positive they can from Nu information, but it just aint working, is it. For some monumentally unknown reason, you need to fight against original fans who think NuThief is on the wrong path, yet you already confessed in this very thread that you simply dont give a shit about Thief of *any* kind anymore. Just because some new team decides to try and cash in, doesnt diminish *our* love for the series. I know that anyone is allowed to come to any forum, but, if I went to a forum for a game series that I didnt care about anymore, I understand that it looks suspect for me to then start swiping the forum that I no longer care about, *NOR* a forum that, um, no one has actually requested my participation in.
