More lies. You took the whole thing as a joke. I didn't leave, the mods saw we weren't getting anywhere and shut it down.

Was this some kind of therapy forum? Sounds interesting. Any chat logs?

Yeah it kind of was. GD is now proving himself to be dishonest. I really tried at this meditation process but he just acted the clown. The mods shut it down because we weren't getting anywhere.
It was permanently deleted so no logs.

Nobody cares.

Post something preorders then.

yes, it looks great. Sure it won't be exactly the thief game I want but I gave up on that idea a long time ago.

The discussions were private so won't go into details here but it does sound like some messages may have been missed from what's being said. It's best if this is resolved outside of this thread so as not to derail this further.

I don't preorder any games because I always want to watch playthrus first, and I only buy a few games anymore, so price isn't an issue like it used to be.

Preordered on Steam a couple of days ago, because I want the Bank Heist, and I also want to be able to join the conversation about it, not only read it afterwards, which I would if I'd wait until later to buy it, to avoid spoilers. I would have liked a boxed copy, but it would have cost 5€ more, and I'm cheap like that :p
Overall, my impression of it is better than the general mood in this forum seems to be. Sure, I'd rather the NuThief were a more polished and technically advanced version of TDM, which is a very good "spiritual successor" of the original games imo, but it was never gonna happen. Not 15 years later. So, due not not being a very sentimental person in general, I am willing to accept changes to the original formula, as long as my feeling of freedom of movement, exploration and progression remains part of it. That being said, of course I have gripes: Context-sensitive jumping strikes me as a really dumb idea, and so do context-sensitive rope arrows. And Garrett should be able to swim. Not having him swim strikes me as just lazy on the part of the developers, as it opens so many more avenues of making Garrett's world open, believable and freely explorable. But hey, in the end of the day it's just a bloody game, right? I simply cannot fathom the levels of whinery about it that some people are capable of. Don't buy the game if you don't like it, but frothing about it like some people do just seems immature and severely lacking in the departments of priority and perspective.
My other main concern is how much eye candy I'll be missing out on, due to my rig being kind of weak for modern AAA games. My specs are above minimum but below recommended for Thief. We'll see...

I pre-ordered today and I'm eagerly awaiting the chance to play the new installment of Thief. I've been a fan of the series since the TDP demo came out so many years ago and I'm not about to pass on something like this. I took advantage of the coupon deal mentioned (thanks henke!) and got the Master Thief Edition. This will actually be some of the first concept art for Thief I've ever owned in hard copy. BTW you can supposedly get the Thief 4 hard copy PC version (
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Square-Enix-Thief-PC-DVD/dp/B00FB3UUDS/ref=pd_sim_sbs_vg_h__1/275-2842017-7505668) here, but I don't think it's the Master Thief Edition.
I decided not to get the hard copy since I'm not sure how important it's going to be to have the cd for the game in the future. They're not even sure about making an editor for this game so I'm not exactly planning for it to hold up to the previous games' abilities to last years beyond their release dates. At best, it may end up being no more than an epic classic I can come back to as long as Steam is around.
As far as I'm concerned, fan missions are where it's at for lasting play-value. I wonder if there are plans to release more standalone missions for the game over time? Sort of like how The Walking Dead did for their game. If that's so, and they were keen to keep the profits of additional missions, then they would likely not release editing software for the game to minimize fan missions possibly diverting money flow.
Regardless of the developers/producers future plans for the game, and from what I've seen of the (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nEYUj-RACo) game play, I'm definitely looking forward to playing this one. It's different, but that's just it, it doesn't have to be the same. If we're going to be comparing sequential game series to one another(something I hate doing as art shouldn't be compared to art, only criteria), then take Final Fantasy for example; they changed nearly everything in each game and proceeded to succeed again and again in making enjoyable games. ...That is, until they made FF12 and perfected it, it was all downhill from there with the pitiful attempt at online games. Certain things weren't meant for online gaming, but I've always felt that Thief deserves the upgrade to the new generation of gaming(definitely minus online gaming;)).
If you haters wanna go play something else such as Dark Souls II or whatever, you're welcome to it, I wanna play Thief!
I found that this is the (
