I voted absolutely not, but may buy it if I ever buy a new console (which is probably a no), and if the game turns out to be worth buying.

So far, not inclined to buy it. It may be too early to really tell, but the more I hear/see/read about this game, the less inclined I am to even want to play it. I think the gameplay video (if it's ever released) will be the telling factor for me. I can always wait til after it's released and my old friend buys it, plays it, and leaves it on my doorstep. He's already said he'll buy it just because he's curious to see how badly EM frakked it up. He considers himself a masochist in that regard. ;)

I'm wondering why they aren't showing off the fan-pleasing stuff, yet.
The timed parkour sequences seem ripped from the TDS Mobile game. Just 'cause it's called the Thieves' Highway, it doesn't mean there's a fast minimum travel speed!

(Mods, can poll submissions be changed? I didn't see that option :erg: )
No they can't I'm afraid - not without some modification to vBulletin.

Yeah, I forgot I need to buy a new PC. But I wanted to do that anyway.

I will certainly buy it asap, though I share the majority of the apprehensions of others, so I chose the second option.
I'll be making a walkthrough/let's play for youtube so that others can check it out before buying.

On the fence, way to early to say anything else.

As of now I won't buy it.
From what information has been released so far I have no faith that this new Thief (inspired) game will be worthy of my purchase. I am not a casual gamer. I play very few games because I require atmosphere and complexity. Because of this Thief holds a special place in my heart. It is my favorite game of all time and it feels like EM has ruined a niche franchise in an attempt to latch onto an existing franchise hoping to piggyback on the success of Deus Ex Human Revolution. The phrase "pick up and play" is the most troublesome statement a game studio can make about their new product. Sound will not be as big a component of the gameplay as in Thief 1/2. The mass market of gamers cannot handle the finesse of that system. The embarrassment EM has shown of the original mechanics and cannon of Thief and the freedom they feel they have to clean up the game for today's audience by creating a reboot is the most damning part of all of this. Those of us that are opposed to the changes in the game that are meant to appeal to a larger audience such as forced immersion breaking third person, speed running parkour, the end of Stephen Russell, horrible attempts at explaining the world in a "realistic" manner (dry ice??? wtf), focus, ect are frustrated because we want a direct continuation of the series not a reboot that is Thief in spirit. Perfect the game mechanics that have already been established and then add some new ones that don't break immersion or dumb it down.
Just because they call it Thief, it centers on stealth and stealing, and they assure us that they are HUGE fans of the originals will not equate to a worthy Thief game and if it turns out that they have indeed compromised this franchise I will not buy it and I will advise everyone I know to stay away.
Why can't EM be with Thief like Piranha Games is with MechWarrior Online? That is a niche game that has been picked up by a developer who understands this and created a game for the fans. Not every game is meant to be mass marketed and watered down.
