Jack Straw was talking about that today dema, and he joked that diplomats would indeed be less likely to be so candid. To Americans. Lol.

One of my professors wrote a good (
http://www.project-syndicate.org/commentary/chesterman2/English) editorial on this.
His main point was the biggest impact this is going to have in the long run is the feedback effects, perversely creating a lot more secrecy and paranoia in government agencies. You won't see note-taking at meetings, more will be done without documentation or documents will be eyes-only, and there will be regular purges of documents.
Edit: Not to mention the willingness of diplomats to talk to each other frankly. They'll hold things back or not open up dialogs, which can only be bad for healthy relations.
I see this thrown around a lot and I always just wonder that is it the fault of Wikileaks for leaking shit or the diplomats for creating it? I'd say the latter.

And shame on Australia for not wanting to protect one of it's own. Yeah, good call guys, must be great being one of your citizens. Brown may have been an ass in many respects but (

Oh, the yanks say jump we say 'how high?'. In fact we generally just start jumping when the embassy batphone rings. Saves the time taken to answer it.
Check out anyone accused of terrorism or in Guantanamo, or even accused of a crime in the US. We don't so much toss them under the bus as offer to drive it, humbly offer one of our own busses (then apologise for offering such an unworthy vehicle) then promise to clean and fuel whatever bus they use afterwards and lay on a big lunch for all concerned.

If Assange goes to Sweden to face these sexual assault allegations he'll doubtlessly be extradited to the USA won't he?
What the hell are these people playing at? It's all so transparent and won't be doing their international image as Ebil Ober-Corp any favours.
I guess they don't care though
Seriously, why do you think (
http://www.americanthinker.com/2004/03/the_truth_sometimes_hurts.html) this happened?
ffs

And don't expect a tip, neither. That soup was a little bland, btw.

Seriously, you're basing your half-baked conspiracy theory on the trivial fact that Shit Happens.
Shit of that magnitude doesn't just happen. And I wasn't proposing any kind of conspiracy theory, just the obvious: the general public is manipulated, betrayed and lied to, only the methods are more refined these days. Pipileaks stinks to high heavens.

Ok so I was wrong when I said theories of painstaking and circuitous micromanaging of public opinion and political manouvers would be dented by all this.

Even if I were to believe ebil obercorp international headed by Amerikkka instead of nations acting in thier own best interests then I would still have to pick that over repressive theocratic dictatorships or even organized repressive athiest dictatorships. I suppose it's a shame then that the enemies of ebil obercorp are so much more assholey else the actions of hero exposer and his sidekick traitorman would have so much more impact.
Mind you I still want the info. I just take the reactions of conspiracy nuts with a grain of salt. And I see the poetic justice of hero exposerman hiding from those who may want his life after his endangering others. This will certainly help one sided muslim propaganda slide more smoothly down the necks of westernworld self loathers gaping for it like cheeping baby birds.
Yay?

Good grief, I didn't think that people like him existed outside of comic stereotypes. :erg:
