Saying that there aren't any issues with sexism in america is as fucking stupid as saying there aren't any issues with racism in america btw. "Different" doesn't mean "not there".
However it will be ever so precious if you guys turn a thread about a law that oppresses women into a bunch of whining about how women keep making noise about oppression so don't don't let me stop you.

I'm speechless Why? I was discussing this in another forum as well; traditions and mindsets surviving in the area hundreds upon hundreds of years weren't going to change because a western military force marched through.
In that other forum brought up a good question, too; is Democracy something to export, after all?

How exotic, imho this just screams for intercultural dialogue, we can really learn from eachother. Let's exchange ideas on what makes a good society.
edit: these tags what are they and how do they come to be, they are often hilarious

"not having sharia law"
In all seriousness I may agree or disagree with invasion of a country depending on what is going on, but if we're going to bother invading in the first place I wish we would stop pretending that not imposing the idea of equal rights is some sort of nod to their sovereignty that makes our actions just and benevolent or something. "Oh we're going to take over your country but don't worry you can still murder gays and starve your wives so it's ok."

Which is a fair enough point, but what little else of neutral bias is there to salve the conscience with?

I was thinking more about in Britain, where there's an obsessive drive to enforce equality even when it's not fair. Whatever sexism exists in the west, the situation in Afghanistan is much worse, and feminists in the west should prioritise.

I don't agree with that at all. If what you are working on is a real problem (this is probably where the real debate is), that's enough to justify the work and the existence of bigger problems doesn't change that or impose a duty to tackle the biggest problem first.
Hunger is worse in other countries than it is here but that doesn't mean I should stop supporting the local food bank in favor of sending money to oxfam. Civil rights are much more protected here than they are elsewhere but that doesn't mean groups like the ACLU should pack it up and head overseas.

Oh those crazy Christians Muslims, what they won't do for sex.
(If she swallows, it's full of protein and could possibly taste like cherry if he drinks enough cough-syrup).
