Karzai is a worm and sharia is about as useful as a wet fart and this has been true for years so no this isn't surprising.
What is surprising is that these men haven't realized how fucking weak these laws make them look. Maybe if you weren't a sad sack of shit who isn't worth pissing on your wife would have sex with you. If you need a law that allows you to withhold food from others in order to force normal human contact then you are pretty much a failure as a human being.
