Without buying stuff, how can I find out what crap is getting on my computer from TTLG (like what Blackman is talking about)? I already use spybot search and destroy and Adaware.

You have to be careful to check the proper extensions of the files attached in these emails. Windows XP has file extensions switched off by default (which is fucking stupid if u ask me) so you should enable them.
Also, look out for filenames like this:
If you're not careful you might not notice the huge number of spaces before the real file extension and assume its just a txt file.

(
www.kerio.com) FIrewall with logs. Once you set it up and have it running it, and the others you are running, should catch anything you don't let in yourself through an EMAIL or infected file you download.
As for DL's you can V check them with any virus program, a free one is (

This and a firewall should get most of them BEFORE they GET YOU.

If you get a e-mail asking you to send in naked pics of yourself to TTLG, that is real.

If you get an e-mail for a penis enlargement from GBM, that's also real :thumb: :joke:

I get a lot of spoofed emails from TTLG forum members. Most of them seem to be coming from the same country. What I mean is that someone who visits TTLG has the virus and doesn't know it, and has a number of email address from the same country on their computer.
I don't know why some people refuse to scan their pc. I guess since they don't see anything wrong with their pc, they think that there isn't a virus.

Why on earth wouldn't someone scan their PC ? Even if they don't want to pay for a virus scanner there are a couple of freebies out there. I guess that they figure that since they don't visit 'questionable sites ' they won't get anything. Virus makers aren't stupid- they don't exactly post their work at getyourvirushere-dot-com
I always have an McAfee running in the background, and as soon as the printserver is set up, the firewall is going back in place, too.
Couple of freebies/trial versions :

Even with the proper programs set up, it always seem to slip through your fingers when your clueless mom or brother decides that bill.txt.exe is something important from the phone company.
Ack, these stuff is rampant. I'm getting 40+ emails every 2 days. Blegh, that's what you get when your email is publicized on 2 major gaming networks.

Some people can't scan their computers for viruses, if they connect here via work. Because I worked somewhere, no names as its a big comunication company, where it was impossible to run virus software on the computer you had because the system ops had removed it. And that system got infested by the 'I love you' virus, and that virus was introduced to the company computer system by the system admin. Because he didn't follow his own rules for eveyone else.
