I'm very sad that so many people are abandoning T3ED:( , but there is hope for our community. Some of you have noticed that I have a seemingly over-ambitious project started. Working with me on this are some of my friends from school and one very enthusiastic professor, my friends and I are all software engineering major plus the professor has a phd in the same field. So with that in mind, my team may have some nice tools and fixes in the near future. Hopefully this will spark more people to use the editor. I am sorry if I keep everyone in the dark about most of the project but I dont want to make too many promises until Im sure we'll be able to finish them.

That's what t3 needs, a nice swift kick in the pants :thumb: Hopefully you're doing some extended documentation too? I'm lost on how to add new skins to a skeletal mesh. There's an "add skin" in the ActorX T3 plugin but nobody left a clue on how to use it.

Sorry, I'll be bringing all my old FMs over to DMod, although I'll release my lighthouse FM first (since it's so near completion anyway)
now I just have to find where I put the disk...

Once you have a better idea of what is possible, you should definately keep the community appraised. Hope is a powerful ally.

I'm afraid this thread will scare potential mappers away. We need all the hope we can get!

Probably won't scare them away, but rather just to a different engine. Regardless of which direction people turn, there will still be new FM's to play. It will sound biased of me, but I do believe the Doom 3 engine is the way to go if we want to keep the Thief community alive for many more years. When the doom 3 source code is released in another couple of years, it will blow the lid off of what the community can do with this engine. Complete rewrite, if we want.

I agree. "In a couple more years," I'll be right there with TDM. Until then, I'll keep honing my skills on T3Ed. I might try my hand at test mapping for TDM before then, but I have a long way to go before I'll consider myself qualified to be an official tester.

Why? Classic Thief still has a lot of life left in it. People are
still doing new things in DromEd, and the missions get played by a lot more people.
Since DeadEd doesn't support so many things that DromEd does, and TDM will, you're just inflicting brain damage on yourself by continuing to use it.

Because T1 and T2 won't run on my laptop. Also, I SUK on DromEd.
