Gnome, if that's your idea of hostility, the internet is going to chew you up and spit you out.
Gnome on 4/9/2006 at 19:18
Yeah, don't worry about me, kid. I know my way around the internets and how to avoid the "internet tough-guys". Gotta watch out for them, because their pixellated abuse can be terrible. Ouch.
And I considered it hostility because I just got here and I wasn't greeted with a very welcome "tone".

Mainly because the 'movement' issues have been talked to death and are generally agreed upon as inferior to the originals. The movement issue itself is caused by the camera being attached to a 3D model with rather clunky animations. Other games have achieved the body awareness effect by not allowing the model to dictate how the camera moves, but rather the camera pulls the animated body along instead and the movements are approximated by the camera. It's essentially standard first person, with an approximation of the body. Body awareness in TDS is just a sad case of cart before the horse.

Actually, the camera can move independantly from the model. The original devs didn't do that though. GarrAT 0.6 has the camera bone move separately from the body for the leaning animations.

Really? Very interesting. :)

Well, like I said, I disagree. I can't explain to you why, but I just like the way the movements/camera work. They never really bothered me, but I could probably elaborate more if I had a better framerate. I just have an ATI Radeon X300, but I'm upgrading soon to an ATI Radeon X1600.

Actually Gnome, the camera and movement in TDS is supposed to simulate real head-bob/body awareness.
But in real life you do not notice this. We experience movement in TDS like an alien who has never been in a human body would. T1/2 is natural.

Well, I'll take my opinion elsewhere. Well, not really, I'm going to keep it to myself while I play Thief: DS some more.
A few days ago there was a big meeting of all the fans of TDS still playing it. Unfortunately it started to rain, so all of them bunched together in a phonebooth and waited until it stopped. You were there? It would have made three already.

Well, be ready then that the same level of critisism will be applied to TDM when it will be released. Are you absolutely sure it will be better than TDS - AI, motions, equipment, sound propagation etc. etc. etc.? Sure it looks goo on screenshots, but actual gameplay as a rule has little to do with quality of screenshots.

SHHHHH!!!!
They're hoping we don't know about the BFG6 (well, it is a little early for it to have hit the heights of a 900, 1000, 2000, or 3000th revision :p), the 60ft top-hat wearing Victoriana 'Mech, Garrett's new abilities to eat dead/unconsious bodies for Mana to power his new range of Heaven/Moutain/Air/Wind/Fire/Ice/Lightening/Water spells, and are positively counting on use not knowing that G started the Hanso Foundation and propsed the Dharma Initiative.
