Yes, I've been working on an FM.
But due to the nature of the engine/editor it's been completely re-done to fit with the constraints. Fine. So it's all planned out, the architecture is mostly done, the first area has lighting and static meshes/textues in and is playable. All it needs is the rest of the detail in, the AI and the readables and it's ready.
It's just a matter of time for me to finish the fleshing out (lol).
But I won't be. Why?
Because everytime I play the new builds I realise something. I don't enjoy it.
I just hate the lurching motion of Garrett, I hate the leaning, the walking, lack of control I feel. I hate the movement in this game. It's killed FM creation for me. The level is built to allow for some good use of the gloves (being as it's set in a chasm that has been built into - think Petra, but not) but even so I just don't like it.
The one thing about Thief 1 and 2 I loved was the exploring, the climbing, the promise of the thieves highway. And I set out to create something of that with this FM.
Alas, Eidos and Ion Storm, despite my desire for this editor and the months of campaigning and waiting, my enthusiam has been spent like so much sea spray on the black cliffs of your engine choice.
:(

I'm sure the Dark Mod would love your assistance, and the more folk they can get in the sooner it gets done so everyone can play along...
And why the hell am I the one making that comment :erm:

Does this mean you'll release the unfinished level for the rest of us to pick over?

Because even you are starting to see the light.

Currently, better to help with CoSaS or T2G projects.

Yup, we're always open for community members to come and help out. We're flexible in our memberships as well. If you have other projects that fuel your fire, feel free to simply apply as a casual contributor. SE is already a member of our team from ages ago, but had been busy with T3ED work, which was understandable...we all waited longingly for it.

Or help with both. :) If objects or textures are being created for any Thief 2 projects, they could be used for both. Create your textures in hi-res 1024 x 1024 maximum and then scale them down for T2. For DarkMod objects, you need to create both a high and low poly model....so you could just use the low poly version for T2 I would reckon.

Reluctantly agreed. I seriously doubt that I'll attempt another T3 FM. Heck, I can't even be bothered to go and fix up my first one (which it desperately needs, and has done for months and months).
Sad as it is, and as much I hate to abandon all the effort that's gone into getting the editor released and working and halfway-usable, and creating tools for it (not least things like Shadowspawn's IBT stripper), Thief 3 is just too hard to mod. I imagine I'll hang around here still, though, and if I can lend any help to anyone who's game enough to keep going (and good luck to you!) then I will.
I wouldn't mind so much if it was just things like the dodgy movement and no rope arrows and no water. We can work around these things, in fact we have done to a certain extent. But the engine is just slightly too buggy and inflexible in order to get anything done.
Dark Mod all the way.

I know what you mean. And its a shame, with FMs like the Bridge that show how good T3 can be with a lot of effort. After all the enthusiasm last year, and all the improvements people have made, too. There's just too much bad feeling against T3 in the community.
I'm not ready to give up on T3 yet though, at least not until the Dark Mod comes out.
