Well that didn't last long. Thankfully.

Yeah....
That's not a good thing.
Previous Solar cycle lows in the AD period included roughly 600-ish, the late 1400s, and again near the late 1600's.
Each of those downturns correlated with the partial or complete collapses of dominant society of the time: the Romans and Mayans, the Incas and Medieval Europe, and the Spanish respectively. It's not something anyone has looked into conclusively yet but a drop in solar output seems to be a strong predictive factor for social systems collapsing.

Yeah, but we have electric heaters now.

Exactly. Maybe the collapses were due to lack of proper farming technology to offset the lower temperatures and resultant crop failures. And I'll take bitter cold over heat any day. Plus, with all the pollution in the atmosphere, this time it would never go as far as a 'mini ice age'.
On the topic, (
http://www.hortidaily.com/article/38311/Iceland-gets-world%E2%80%99s-first-carbon-removal-solution-through-direct-air-capture) here's some more good news. People actively working on sucking carbon out of the atmosphere. It's still too little to make a dent, but increasing. If we can make machines to foul up the air, we can also make machines to do the opposite.
